With a 170° ultra-wide lens, the HDR-AS20 HD POV Action Camera, part of the Action Cam line from Sony, is designed to give you an immersive, first-person perspective on adventures of all kinds. It features 1080p video recording at 30 or 60 frames per second, a 720p30 mode for longer recording time, and a VGA (640 x 480) mode for producing compact, Web-friendly files. In addition to video, the Action Cam takes still photos at the camera's native effective resolution of 11.9-megapixel. Plus there is a 120 fps Super Slow Motion burst mode that creates a 4x slow-down in-camera without the quality loss of software-base slow motion.

Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC means you can operate the camera and monitor wirelessly from a smartphone or mobile device as well as pair it with the separately available RML-VR1 Live View Remote Watch from Sony. This wrist-worn controller has a built-in color screen for monitoring and can operate record start and stop plus snap a photo. You can even use one remote to control up to five compatible Action Cams simultaneously.

To further "adventure-proof" the camera the SPK-AS2 housing is included. Waterproof to 15', the housing also protects the camera from dust and dirt, as well as drops from as high as 5 feet. There is a 1/4"-20 socket on the bottom allowing the camera to be used with standard tripods, monopods, suction-cup mounts, and more.

SteadyShot Digital Image Stabilization
Digital corrects for unwanted sources of camera shake such as the effect of shooting hand-held. It also features an Active Mode for even great stabilization
Built-In Wi-Fi and NFC
The Wi-Fi link allows you to:
  • Control the camera and monitor a video feed from a mobile device
  • Control and monitor up to five cameras using a single, separately available RML-VR1 Live View Remote Watch from Sony
  • When tethered to a device that has an Internet connection, stream live to the U-Stream website
  • Pair the camera with an NFC-enabled mobile device simply by tapping the two together
Ultra-Wide 170° Field-of-View Lens
The ultra-wide lens helps ensure the Action Can captures everything that happens in front of the lens and adds to the point-of-view feel. With image stabilization off the field-of-view (FOV) is 170°, which drops to 120° when the SteadyShot image stabilizer turned on
Multiple Frame Rates
In addition to the 1080p 60 fps setting, the HDR-AS20/B can record 1080p in 30 fps, 720p at 30 fps, and Web-friendly VGA (640 x 480) at 30 fps. It also features two slow-motion modes, both in 720p resolution, one at 60 fps for a 2x in-camera slow-down and one at 120 fps for a 4x in-camera slow-down. These modes help you break down fast action frame by frame to accentuate the drama or to analyze an action such as a golf swing
11.9-Megapixel Photo Mode
In addition to video, the camera can capture 16:9 aspect ratio still photos at 11.9-megapixels, and features an interval mode for creating time-lapse videos that shoots in intervals of 5, 10, 30, and 60 seconds
Built-In Stereo Mic and Mic Input
The built-in mic captures ambient audio, while a 3.5mm mini jack mic input allows you to choose the microphone that works best for a particular scenario
Exmor R CMOS Sensor
The 1/2.3" CMOS imaging chip features back-side illumination to help decrease pixel spacing for improved low-light performance compared to non-back illuminated equivalents
Battery Lasts up to 150 Minutes
The included NP-BX1 rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack lasts up to 150 minutes, depending on how the camera is used, and recharges in-camera via USB in approximately four hours
SPK-AS2 Water and Dustproof Housing
The included SPK-AS2 housing is waterproof down to 15' and will also help protect the camera from dust and dirt as well as drops from up to 5'. There is a standard 1/4"-20 socket on the bottom for mounting on a tripod, monopod, mount, or other piece of camera report equipment
VCT-AM1 Adhesive Mount Pack Included
Two curved and two flat adhesive mounts allows you to affix the Action Cam to a variety of surfaces, from helmets to boat hulls. Additional, the HDR-AS20 is compatible with a range of separately available mounting solutions from Sony specifically for the Action Cam line
Built-In Status Display
A monochrome LCD screen is provided to check the camera status and access menu functions. For monitoring externally there is a micro-HDMI port or the camera can be paired with a Wi-Fi enabled mobile device or Sony's Live View Remote Watch. There is also a legacy composite output that requires the separately available VMC-15MR2 cable
