Dracast LED2000-DX overview

  • 1Description

The LED2000-DX Studio Daylight LED Light with DMX from Dracast is a good choice for studio or location work where color accuracy, control and flicker-free output are of prime importance. The LED2000-DX's daylight balanced output is well suited to outdoor work or for color matching HMI fixtures, while its high CRI of 95 renders colors with precision and fidelity. Dimming from 100-0% is conveniently done with a back-panel button that adjusts the output with negligible color shift and indicates the light level on a digital readout. Alternatively, you can control the light's functions remotely thanks to its DMX capability. The low electrical draw of just 120W means a timely return on your investment.

The durable aluminum frame is supported by an sturdy, U-shaped yoke with locking knobs on each side and a standard 5/8" receiver. The LED2000-DX can be used worldwide, powered by the included 100-240VAC power adapter or by 24VDC battery sources when mains power is unavailable. Accessories include optional 4-way barndoors for contouring and control of the LED2000-DX's 45 degree beam angle.

    Dracast LED2000-DX reviews

LED2000-DX Studio Daylight LED Light with DMX is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best LED Panel for Video for the Money I use these lights for high end TV commercials and videos shot with Red Dragon. They have very well built panels. Light weight aluminum construction. Very bright output at high CRI. Many LED companies claim high CRI but the light does not compete with HMI, the Dracast does. We have receive lots of compliments on the beautiful flesh tones it renders. I was seriously considering remote phosper panels, but when I saw the light the Dracast puts out, the numbers were more than 3 to 1 in Dracast favor. For the same money I got 3 instruments vs 1 and each have a brighter output. All this and great color rendering. The only thing I would say negative about them is that the yokes can be bent if you put too much strain on them. But the lights themselves are very robust.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from If I could return it, I would It was special order, so we're stuck with it but I wish we'd gotten the LED fresnel instead. We have a few of the Dracast LED1000 units (and love them), so we bought this LED2000 to see if it could replace our 2' and 4' Kino Flos. Smaller, lighter, easier to handle than a Kino, right? Nope. I'll explain. Pros: - Light weight - Color value: Fantastic CRI and it mixes beautifully with Daylight Kino bulbs. - Light output: It's about as bright as a 4'x4-bank Kino Flo, though not quite as soft. Cons: - Size: The yolk and adjustment knobs add about 6 to the overall width. The smallest case we could find was the Pelican PE1730which is the size of a Volkswagen bus. Believe it or not, it's actually more annoying than lugging three 4' Kinos around. - It's a studio light, so it doesn't come with any sort of bag or case. Just bare bulbed in a box. In their defense, it says Studio in the name. In my defense, the description says it's a good choice for location work... - Dimming on the unit is done through a menu on the back and takes about 45 seconds to go from 100% to 0%. Quite a departure from the knob-dial on the LED1000 units. - When dimming, it goes from 100% to 75% and then to off. In other words, 100% on the rear display=100% output and 1% on the rear display =75% output. Want 25% output? Sorry, bro, it ain't happening. - Some quality issues: Every now and then a row of LEDs doesn't light, the buttons on the back are loose, and a part of the power adaptor was broken (we received a prompt replacement power adaptor from Dracast). I worry about the durability for extended field work. Bottom line, this light might be okay for a studio installation but it's too flawed for location use. We used it for one interview, put it in our storage room and haven't touched it since. I'd probably recommend skipping it.
