PocketWizard PlusX Overview

The PocketWizard PlusX 2 Pack provides 2 transceivers for a wireless solution to triggering a studio or portable flash unit remotely at distances up to 1600'. I bought this at the recommendation of B&H, and it works perfectly. I greatly appreciate the helpful staff.

I asked B&H for advice on triggering my old studio flash unit with the Hasselblad 907X. This 2 pack PocketWizard was recommended. The price was very reasonable, and they work perfectly.

Fills a needed flash void

I have Nikon flashes and Commander, but there are situations where the infrared is inadequate to fire my flash, so I thought I would give the Pocket Wizards a try, Intitially, I was concerned since it sometimes required two actuations to get the flash to fire. Silly me; the flash units were going into sleep mode in a relatively short time, and had to be awakened. Since I resolved that problem, the Pocket Wizards have performed flawlessly. I even tested them at 40 yards through a wooden fence, and a concrete block wall, behind the line of sight. Worked great! I haven't tried to see how far away I can get, but I expect it's a long way in open conditions.

So far so good. Pretty straitforward and simple. It is nice to have some analog gear in a digital world.

Decided to use my older 7Dmk2 behind the goal for soccer games. This trigger worked great from my 1Dx3. Created a few good shots from a new perspective. Nice piece of kit. Will need to experiment some more this spring with set-up angle and focus settings.

PlusX 2 pack. Love these pocket wizards for my Canon 5D Mark IV and the mini cable works nicely on my elinchrom HD 500 strobe light. Great trigger every time.

Works with godox dp1000iii ?
Asked by: Safwan
Yes, the PocketWizard PlusX 2 Pack would be compatible for use with the Godox DP1000III Professional Studio Flash. The PocketWizard PlusX 2 Pack includes the cables needed to connect the PlusX to the Godox DP1000III. Do note you will have to set the flash output manually, as TTL flash output would not be compatible when using the PocketWizard PlusX radio transceivers.

I assume the trigger is not camera specific. I want to use with my Fujifilm X100V ?
Asked by: Kenneth
Correct. As long as the camera can be triggered by a single pin port and/or the flash can be triggered by a sync cable, the radio should be compatible.

Are these camera brand agnostic? Planning on using these on my Sony A7II and my Broncolor Strobe Power Packs. That being the case can these also work with Large Format Cameras with PC sync cords to trigger my Broncolors too?
Asked by: Jurgen
The PlusX radios will work with virtually any flash or camera that can be triggered by a hot shoe or sync port, in manual mode, up to the camera's X-sync.

question

Does this product work with TTL for Nikon cameras?
Asked by: Anonymous
The PlusX units are not TTL. For TTL, you would need the Flex and Mini units from PocketWizard (#WIFTT5N and #WIMTT1N).

question

I have canon 550ex. will plus x2 work and what kind of cables and adapters do I need ?
Asked by: Anonymous
You would connect one PlusX to the hot shoe of your camera, and connect the second PlusX to your Canon 550EX Speedlite Flash via the PocketWizard HSFM3 Flash Sync Cable (3'), B&H # WIHSFM3. With this setup, when both units are on the same channel, you press the shutter button on your camera and it would wirelessly trigger your speedlite.
