MSI R7 265 Overview

For increased performance, the GPU inside this Radeon R7 265 comes overclocked by MSI at the factory. Having a factory overclock results in a smoother gameplay experience straight out of the box, no intensive tweaking necessary. With the overclock the card features a core clock speed of 900 MHz and is further boostable to 955 MHz. The GPU is linked to the 2GB of GDDR5 vRAM via a 256-bit memory interface.

On the front panel, this card offers two DVI outputs, including one DVI-I output which can be converted to a VGA output with the included adapter, as well as HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. To keep this card cool, MSI integrated their proprietary cooler with Propeller Blade Technology. This single fan cooler pulls hot air out from the heatsink cooling the GPU. This type of cooler works best in cases where airflow is not restricted.

MSI Afterburner Overclocking Utility
This included utility allows you to monitor your fan speed and adjust your graphics card's parameters using an iOS or Android mobile device. You can also record your gameplay straight out of the card without needing additional 3rd party software that could potentially slow down your gaming experience.
Popular API Support
Supports DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.3, AMD Mantle, AMD App Acceleration, and other APIs to allow compatible, GPU-aware software to benefit from GPU acceleration. This provides better graphics rendering and in the case of parallel processing, helps shift some of the computational workload off your computer's CPU for better system performance
Combine GPUs with CrossFire
AMD CrossFire technology allows you to combine two GPUs in one machine to extend the total processing power of your system. A CrossFire-enabled motherboard is required
Propeller Blade Technology
Using a large 100mm fan, the R7 265 only needs a single cooling fan to keep the card's temperature in check. Having one large fan reduces noise and offers increased heatsink area.
Image Processing Features
Applies anti-aliasing and other image enhancement filters designed to render smoother, more natural looking graphics. These include:
  • Multi-sample anti-aliasing (2, 4, or 8 samples per pixel)
  • Up to 24x Custom Filter Anti-Aliasing (CFAA)
  • Adaptive super-sampling and multi-sampling
  • Gamma corrections
  • HDR anti-aliasing
  • Super AA anti-aliasing when using two cards with CrossFireX
AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture
Features a 28nm core architecture designed to increase efficiency by putting more transistors in less space. In addition, this architecture has been engineered so that it is capable of performing many of the processing tasks that previously could only be handled by a computer's CPU
Quad Data Rate (QDR) GDDR5 RAM
Because GDDR5 RAM can transfer up to four words per cycle, as opposed to one word per cycle with traditional RAM, the effective data rate is quadrupled, allowing this card to process data transactions as quickly as if it had a 5.6 GHz memory clock speed
PCI Express 3.0 Support
Provides twice the bandwidth of PCI Express 2.0; for example, an x8 PCI Express 3.0 slot has the same bandwidth as a x16 PCI 2.0 slot. In addition, the card remains backward-compatible with motherboards using earlier generations of PCI Express
