Hammond 2101MK II Overview

The 2101MKII Leslie Rotary Speaker from Hammond delivers the classic "Sound-In-Motion" effect of a true rotor from a compact, 200W, 3-channel keyboard amplifier. The rotary channel's signal is separated with the highs reproduced by a mechanical horn rotor and the lows reproduced by two 5" speakers with digital rotor simulations. Both the mechanical and digital rotors operate in two modes: Fast (Tremolo) or Slow (Chorale).

The stationary left and right channels accommodate signals from another sound source such as a synthesizer or external sound module and utilize the same two 5" low frequency drivers along with two additional 2" soft-dome tweeters for high frequencies. There are 16 different functions for both rotors, which may be saved to two presets for instant recall via select button, foot switch, or MIDI program change messages. The amplifier's enclosure is constructed from impact-resistant MDF with a black leather-like finish. The 2101MKII ships with the FS-9H foot switch and a standard IEC power cable.

Control Panel
11-Pin Socket
Allows direct connection between a Leslie speaker and Hammond organ
8-Pin Din Socket
Allows direct connection between a Leslie speaker and Hammond models XK-1, XB-1, XM-2, and XM-1 using the optional special 8-pin cable
Line In Jack
Rotary: Input for the rotary speakers for organs and instruments without the multi-pin connector
Stationary Left and Right: Inputs for stationary speakers. Signals received here will not be passed through the rotary system
Stationary Input Select
Stereo: Left and right inputs are output in stereo
Mono: Left and right inputs are summed into mono
Line Out Jack
Stationary & Bass (Left/Mono, Right): Allows both the Stationary and the Low Rotary channels to be connected to an external amplifier
Rotary (Left/Mono, Right): Allows the Low Rotary channel to be connected to an external amplifier
Remote to Leslie 2121
Connects power control from the optional Leslie 2121 keyboard amplifier to the 2101 MKII for single-button power control
Foot Sw
Preset: A latching foot switch is used to toggle between preset 1 and 2
Slow/Fast/Stop: Allows you to control the speed of the Leslie rotors. Each time the foot switch is activated, the rotors will switch between SLOW and FAST. If the foot switch is pressed and held for more than 1 second, the rotors will stop.
One FS-9H foot switch is included and works with either input.
MIDI In and Out
MIDI In: Connects to the MIDI Out of an organ or keyboard organ, keyboard, or external device
MIDI Out: Connects to the MIDI In of an additional Leslie model 21 Horn-Unit when two units are connected in series
The MIDI In from the organ and the Foot Sw signal of the Horn-Unit are merged in the MIDI Out.
Volume Controls
Rotary: Adjusts volume of rotary channel
Stationary L: Adjusts the volume control of the stationary left channel
Stationary R: Adjusts the volume control of the stationary right channel
Tube Mode and Overdrive
Overdrive: Adjusts the Overdrive level of the rotary channel
Tube Mode: The soft overdrive offers a warm smooth sound, while progressing to the hard setting increases saturation with a "crunchier" sound
Ext. Speaker
Neutrik NL4FX: Four-contact speaker output capable of driving a minimum of 4 ohms, such as the optional Leslie LPS-21 speaker
Power Amp Overload
Illuminates as the maximum output of the power amplifier is approached

Is there a "half-moon" switch that works directly with the Leslie 2101 MKII? Will the Hammond CU-1 work directly connected to the 2101 to have speed changes?
Asked by: LUIS
The CU-1 will work as long as the speaker is connected to the XK-3.
