Kenn Kaufman's 392 page hardcover edition of the Field Guide to Birds of North America is ideal for birders of all levels and experience. This latest edition of the Field Guide has been updated to reflect the American Ornithologists' Union in official names of birds, the addition of new species, and dozens of updated range maps. It uses a combination of visual aids and physical descriptions to aid in identification of species, and organizes birds by family groups.
Color-coded tags divide its sixteen sections on sixteen classes of birds. Each left-hand page describes related birds, with range maps, color-coded for season and frequency. Most species also have brief descriptions of their song, voice, or call-note. The corresponding right-hand page offers bright, high-resolution color pictures of the same birds.
Kenn Kaufman is a Field Editor for Audubon Magazine, a columnist for BirdWatching and Bird Watcher's Digest, and an editorial consultant for WildBird. He is also the youngest person ever to receive the Ludlow Griscom Award, the highest honor of the American Birding Association.
