Polar FT60 Overview

The white FT60 Male Wrist-Watch Heart Rate Monitor from Polar is a wrist-worn digital fitness watch and heart rate monitor with a large, easy-to-read backlit screen featuring a streamlined bezel design. The FT60 helps create a training program based on your personal goals, and guides your training with heart-rate based recovery periods between exercises.

Also included with the FT60 is an H1 coded transmitter that is worn around your chest to monitor your heart rate while exercising and resting. The transmitter wirelessly sends an encrypted ECG-accurate heart rate signal that can only be read by your FT60.

The FT60 uses the built-in Polar STAR Training Program to provide you with the optimum intensity and time targets for your workout, and gives feedback on your performance such as effect, intensity, calories, heart rate statistics, duration, and more. Using the optional FlowLink data transfer unit's USB connection to plug the FT60 into your internet-connected computer, you can gain access to the Polar Personal Trainer website, which allows you to keep a record of your workouts, track progress, and plot future workout programs. You can also enter your data into the site manually.

Smart Coaching
Fitness Test
Tells you exactly how your fitness is developing. If you're looking to improve your fitness and want to keep up to date with how well you're doing, the Smart Fitness Test will tell you exactly what you need to know in just five minutes. By regularly comparing your test results, you can see what progress you are making and how your fitness is improving
OwnZone
Guides you to train at the right intensity. Knowing the right intensity to improve your fitness can be a challenge. OwnZone adjusts your heart rate training zone to match your body's current physiological condition. By using OwnZone, you can be sure you're training at an intensity that improves your aerobic fitness
Smart Calories
Lets you know exactly how many calories you've burned. OwnCal calculates the number of calories expended during a training session based on your weight, height, age, gender, your individual maximum heart rate (HRmax) and how hard you're training
STAR Training Program
STAR Training Program shows you how hard and how much you need to train to reach your long-term goals. It's designed to keep you motivated all week and every week by using a personal guidance program that's no further away than your wrist
Training Load and Recovery
Helps you find the perfect balance between rest and training. Shows you how much your training affected your body and how long it takes for you to recover. Continuous monitoring of training load and recovery will help you recognize personal limits, avoid over- or under-training, and adjust training intensity and duration according to your daily and weekly targets
Body Measurement Features
Manual Target Zone - BPM- %
This feature enables you to define the target zone as you want and is suitable for your training. You can set the target zone for your training as beats per minute (BPM), as a percentage of your maximum heart rate, or as a percentage of your heart rate reserve (HRR%)
HRmax (User Set)
Max heart rate
Polar Fitness Test
Polar Fitness Test measures your aerobic fitness at rest in just five minutes. The result, Polar OwnIndex, evaluates your maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max). With the Polar Fitness Test you can measure your aerobic fitness by yourself, automatically and without any exertion. All you need is your training computer. The Polar Fitness Test is as accurate in predicting the VO2max as any sub maximal fitness test. The test is based on heart rate and heart rate variability at rest and personal information
Polar OwnCode
Coded heart rate transmission automatically locks in a code to transmit your heart rate to the training computer. The training computer picks up your heart rate from your transmitter only. Coding significantly reduces interference from other training computers
Polar OwnCal
Polar OwnCal calculates the number of kilocalories expended during training. This feature allows you to follow the kilocalories expended during one training session and cumulative kilocalories expended during several training sessions. The FT60 also estimates the fat-burning percentage (fat% on display), that is, kilocalories expended from fat during a workout which is expressed as a percentage of the total kilocalories burned
HR-Based Target Zones with Visual and Audible Alarm
You can define your target zones for a training session based on heart rate to help define the right intensity. When you are out of the preset zones, the training computer will give a visual and audible alarm
Average and Maximum Heart Rate of Training
Max and average heart rate while training
Automatic Age-Based Target Zone - BPM / %
To help you train safely and effectively, the training computer determines your heart rate target zone limits automatically according to your age-based maximum heart rate (220 minus age). The limits are determined either in beats per minute (BPM), as a percentage (%) of your maximum heart rate, or as a heart rate reserve (% HRR)
Heart Rate - BPM / %
Heart rate is the measurement of the work your heart does. Heart rate can be expressed as the number of beats per minute or as percentage of your maximum heart rate. Heart rate can also be expressed as a percentage of your heart rate reserve, meaning the difference between your resting heart rate and maximum heart rate (HRR = HRmax - HRrest). In Polar software or during strength training, heart rate can be displayed as a graphical trend
Polar STAR Training Program
The adaptive and personalized Polar STAR Training Program helps you reach your training targets. The training program gives you weekly targets, including intensity and duration, for your training. The Polar STAR Training Program is based on your fitness level, activity level, training goal and personal information (weight, height, age and sex)
Polar OwnZone
Polar OwnZone determines your personal heart rate limits for a training session. Depending on the day and time, your physical state may vary. If you are stressed or tired, or if you are not fully recovered from your latest training session, Polar can determine that information from your heart rate and guide you to your ideal training zone for that moment
Training Features
HeartTouch
When HeartTouch is on, different training information during training can be accessed without pressing buttons
Graphical Target Zone Indicator
This feature points out graphically on the display the zone you are in during a training session, helping you to stay on the desired intensity zone
ZoneLock

ZonePointer
ZonePointer is a visible and moving symbol on the training computer display indicating whether you are inside the pre-set target zone. This feature helps you to reach the desired intensity/pace/speed/cadence targets

Totals includes your training data starting from the last reset which enables you to follow your long-term training
