The 50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine DS Lens for Micro Four Thirds from Rokinon is a fast manual focus prime lens. When used on Micro Four Thirds format cameras it offers a 35mm equivalent focal length of 100mm, pushing it into a telephoto angle of view. It provides a very fast maximum aperture of T1.5 for effective low light capture and shallow depth of field control and an 8 blade iris for attractive bokeh. Optimized for cinema and video applications, the focus and aperture control rings are outfitted with industry standard gearing, which provides an interface for working with a traditional follow focus. The aperture control ring has also been de-clicked, which enables smooth iris pulls. In addition, bright aperture and distance markings are printed on the lens barrel facing laterally to facilitate easier control by a focus puller.

The 50mm has a minimum focus distance of 1.5'. Internal focusing minimizes the effects of lens breathing, which insures a more consistent angle-of-view when adjusting focus. The lens is composed of 9 elements in 6 groups, including one aspherical element and one hybrid aspherical element to reduce aberrations. In addition, a lens multi-coating helps to improve light transmission reducing flare and ghosting. The filter thread diameter is 77mm.

With this 50mm lens, Rokinon introduces the DS series of cinema lenses, unifying their cine lenses in more than just name. Each of the DS branded lenses will offer the same alignment of their geared focus and aperture rings so that follow focus and other rig accessories won't need re-adjustment when swapping lenses. Also, each DS lens is tested to be color matched with the other lenses in the series and provide the same color and contrast when shooting video. Lastly, the lenses are marked with focusing scales on each side of the barrel for easier adjustment from either side of the camera.

50mm manual focus prime lens provides the 35mm focal length equivalent of 100mm on Micro Four Thirds format cameras.
Functional as still photo lens but optimized for cinema and video shooting with geared aperture and focus rings, de-clicked aperture for smooth exposure transitions and laterally printed aperture and distance markings. The 50mm T1.5 is part of the DS series of cine lenses, sharing characteristics and features that unify the series and make it easier for users to swap out lenses when shooting video. Each DS lens provides aligned focus and aperture rings so that readjustment of the follow focus is not necessary when switching lenses. Also each lens has been tested to match color and contrast for a consistent look and less potential post-processing. Finally, all DS lenses print focus scales on each side of the lens barrel for ease of use from both sides of the camera.
Very fast T1.5 maximum aperture for effective low light capture and shallow depth of field.
Internal focusing system with 9 lens elements in 6 groups.
One aspherical and one hybrid aspherical lens element control aberrations and improve sharpness throughout the frame.

50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine DS Lens for Micro Four Thirds is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens for the price! I definitely recommend Rokinon Cine DS lenses if you are on budget, like me. They do lack electronic connectors, but they are so well-built that you can easily adjust its focus and aperture. Its performance is awesome for both photographs and moving picture. If you are into videos, I would definitely recommend the new DS series, rather than the previous cine lenses. In DS version, they have standardized a lot of things, and I think used a better glass. So, that's what I can say. Go for it, if you are on budget but want to get some nice footage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Lens For it's price in comparison to any other cinema lens the Rokinon primes are great. Solid form and sharp focus. The best part about these lenses are the geared focus and declicked aperture ring. These will be different for anyone who is used to shooting on a photo lens with IS and autofocus, but if you're primarily shooting video these are a great addition to your package. The build however could be better and it's unfortunate that you have to pay extra for focus and aperture marks to be on both sides of the lens barrel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect product and end-to-end service. Great lens. Really sharp and much better bokeh than the Sigma 18-35mm lens I have been using. The clickless aperture and focus ring have LOTS of throw, so be aware of that - I personally wanted this so it's a plus for me. Got a courtesy call from B&H to confrim the purchase, despatched same day and arrived 2 days later from US to UK so extremely happy with service.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from An acceptable 50mm Prime This isn't the best brime the world has ever scene, but the image quality is good for most medium work. Only a professional would be able to tell the short commings of this lens and honestly it puts out a perfectly acceptable look. The F1.5 is also a godsend in low light.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's not exactly what you think it is. The lens itself looks sharp and is well constructed, however if you are using a camera with a MFT sensor, this lens is closer to a 144mm than it is a 50mm. No big deal right? I'll just get a speed booster. Wrong, unfortunately, I cannot find a focal reducer that is MFT - MFT because no one really makes them. So when it boils down to it, this is a full frame lens, that cannot fit on a full frame camera.
