The DVD version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 for Mac and Windows is a versatile and intuitive editing and organizing program for managing a complete digital imaging workflow. Beginning with a wide range of photo editing and enhancement capabilities, Elements 13 presents a breadth of tools for automatically optimizing the look and feel of select images and retouching unwanted aspects of individual photographs. Features to help accomplish this include Effects Variations, Crop Suggestions, Guided Edits for black and white photos, and Photomerge Compose.
Effects Variations provides options for each effect in the Quick Edit feature. If one effect is chosen, Elements 13 presents five variations of that effect, ranging from the subtle to the more extreme. To help ensure the best composition for an image, Crop Suggestions are offered when using the crop tool. These suggestions can reduce clutter or empty space within an image while maximizing that picture's impact. Three dedicated Guided Edits under the Photo Effects feature provide possibilities for expressing oneself in black and white. B&W Color Pop allows for the selective addition of colors within a predominantly black and white image. B&W Selection can be used to create sections of black and white within a previously all-color image, while Black and White applies a global monochrome conversion. In instances where the desired elements of an image are spread over multiple pictures, Photomerge Compose can be used to create the perfect shot. People or objects can be copied from one photo, pasted into another, while colors, lighting, and proportions can be adjusted to help ensure that the final product looks as though it was captured in-camera.
Photoshop Elements 13 is also designed to help its users continuously improve their work. Integrated within Elements 13 is Elements Live, which provides channels for learning, inspiration, and news, along with easy access for help with the program when needed.
Elements 13's expansive set of editing capabilities is housed within a friendly environment, featuring easy-to-recognize icons and commands for a more seamless working method. Quick, Guided, and Expert modes can be selected depending on the amount of manipulation and control desired during editing, and distinct Editor and Organizer interfaces allow for intuitive handling of photos. Mobile device support helps to make files shot with a smartphone or tablet readily available within Elements and, conversely, files housed within Elements albums can be viewed and shared from linked mobile devices. A rich set of tagging controls, based on subject, location, or event, help to streamline navigating immense catalogs of imagery and support direct uploading of content to social media sites, including Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and Twitter.
