Allowing you to tracks isolated vocals and instruments, the SPACE Reflection Filter from sE Electronics features a 10-layer acoustic filter design that surrounds your microphone and limits the amount of direct sound that reaches your room, therefore reducing the amount of reflections headed back toward the microphone. The SPACE (Specialized Portable Acoustic Control Environment) filter is constructed of 7 vertical bass pillars and employs sE Electronics' Multi-Layer Air-Gap technology. It mounts to your stand with a vertically and horizontally adjustable and lockable clamp that can be tilted to accommodate instrument recording.

Excellent tool
This helped me to eliminate a majority of the reflections in a small room. It really helps to refine and focus the sound. If you try this I recommend pulling the microphone out as far away as you possibly can from it. I went so far as to get an extension so that I could pull the microphone out even a little bit further than what I would otherwise be able to with the stock hardware. With the microphone set up the way they suggest the sound is too dry for me. I pulled it out to the point that I thought the filter would no longer have an effect and yet it did! Obviously something like this has to be experimented with until you find the perfect placement in your situation. If I would have only used their suggested placement I probably would have ended up returning the product, but as it is I ended up getting perfect results. I'm primarily using this to record acoustic guitar and vocal with a single take. It made a huge difference in how the guitar sounded! It brought so much definition that was previously lacking. I also find the vocals to have a beautiful intimate sound to them. Eventually I plan on using this for podcast work as well. I love how it takes the environment out of the recording without losing a sense of space. Again, my suggestion is that you experiment. My microphone is placed much farther away from the filter than I ever thought possible, and yet the filter is working beautifully like that.
WOW-pricey, but in my opinion, worth it
I got to compare this product to the cheap filter that sE makes (the RFX-1 I believe). When I used the RFX, I thought it worked really well, but then I tried the space, and WOW, what a difference! I am using a Neumann TLM-102 for vocals and voice-over work in my apartment, and this thing cleaned up my tracks dramatically. Yes, it is not cheap, but then again I did not have to pay to treat my whole room, and I can take this with me when I move! I also travel a lot, and I could see using this on the road in hotel rooms.
