It says adjustable height. Thinking about using these for miking guitar speakers on stage; what is the functional range (low--to-high) in inches?
Including the mic, I measured a range of roughly 14-18 inches. I use it for podiums that don't have a built in mic clip. Definitely meant for tabletop situations.

can you unscrew the clip on top to screw on shock mounts?
I unscrewed the clip to verify, and then I looked at images of shock mounts on Google Images, and it appears that you can screw on a shock mount to this stand. I hope this assists you. Happy recording.

Does this stand work for a shotgun mic?
I used it for a small microphone and it worked great. I assume a shotgun mic is quite a bit longer. Not sure if the stand would support the torque/weight of something that long--but it really depends on the weight and how long the mic is.

I'm looking for a mic clip that will fit on the top of a light stand for television reporter standups. Would this work with this stand?
The mic clip has a threaded screw in bottom which will screw on to this little small stand. It should also screw into a light stand if you have the same size standard thread. It's a great little stand and clip I use it quite a bit in interview situations.
