Rosco Fluorescent Paint Overview

One of the most eye-catching colorants you're likely to find, Rosco's blue Fluorescent Paint glows vividly under ultraviolet light, creating a brilliant visual effect for use in design, artwork, stage productions, and other applications. When combined with other Rosco Scenic Paints, it makes those hues more vibrant.

This water-based, vinyl acrylic paint with matte finish is quick-drying, and can be applied to almost all surfaces once they've been properly cleaned and treated with a primer, such as Rosco's Tough Prime. Using a white basecoat will yield the most dramatic color effects. You can apply the paint with a brush, roller, or spray gun. Please keep in mind that it's best to keep the paint out of direct sunlight whenever possible, as prolonged exposure to UV light will cause a degradation in the pigment.

Isn't completely invisible

If painted on a dark surface, the paint will be visible without being exposed to UV light. It can be thinned out to help minimize this. Otherwise, it looks great under UV.

question

Can you use invisible blue over regular paint & will the color paint show through?
Asked by: Anonymous
Whether or not the paint will show through would depend on the type of surface in which you are painting over. According to Rosco, they suggest to prime porous surfaces, except fabrics, using Rosco Tough Prime, B&H # ROTPWG . They also stated that if painting a new plaster surface, you should prime the wall with a commercial primer/sealer designed for raw plaster. You can then use Rosco Tough Prime as a final preparation. They also suggest using a white base coat to achieve the most dramatic color effects.

question

To clarify.. This paint is invisible in normal light. However shows up blue under black light?
Asked by: Sela K.
According to Rosco, this paint has a milky white tone that fluoresces to a pale blue when using under a blacklight. When painted over a light colored surface, it would be difficult to detect it. It works best when painted over a darker area.

Can I use this on Styofoam?
Asked by: leslie
Rosco Fluorescent Paint (White, Matte, 1 Quart) can be used on almost all materials as stated by Rosco. Best is to use a primer on the Styrofoam. And it is also best to test a part of it before painting it all.
