Optex IVP-DH overview

  • 1Description

The iVision+ Wireless Intercom System from Optex allows you to see who's at the door, communicate with the person or identify them, from the convenience of inside your home or office. Moreover, it supports optional door-release capability that lets you open the door without getting up. The system includes a Door Unit and Handheld Unit that form a one-way video / two-way audio communication system. Up to four Handheld Units and up to two Door Units can be incorporated into one system, suitable for both residential and commercial locations.

The Door Unit, which neatly installs at your entrance door, features a doorbell, camera, microphone, and speaker for your visitors to ring and communicate with you. IR LEDs around the camera lens allow the camera to clearly see visitors at nighttime, as long as there's at least a little light outside. The Handheld Unit is a monitoring device, featuring a 2.4" display that shows you who's at the door. It also has a microphone and speaker so you can speak with your visitor. When you're not available to answer, the Door Unit takes up to three photos of your visitor and transmits them to the Handheld Unit where they're saved to built-in memory. These photos can later be offloaded to your computer via a USB output on the Handheld Unit.

The system supports a 330 ft line-of-sight transmission range between the units. The Door Unit is battery-operated by three AA batteries and can also be wired to work off of AC/DC power, and it's splash proof against rain and similar outdoor conditions. It mounts near your door using its own back plate and screws. The Handheld Unit runs on an included rechargeable battery and comes with a wall-mountable charging cradle where it can be kept at all times, like a cordless phone in its base.

Remote door-release capability can be integrated by installing the optional iVision+ Gateway Unit or Wireless 2000 Unit and wiring your doors.

    Optex IVP-DH reviews

iVision+ Wireless Intercom System is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy setup and works great We removed the old doorbell and reused the same wires for powering this new intercom. Now, with it outside the front door, we can easily check and talk with anyone outside. Our old intercom had a lot of hum and buzz. This one has a clean video and audio signal. I have even connected it to a Windows PC to pull off the photos. couldn't get it to mount as a drive with Mac OS X Yosemite.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far - So Good! We are using the unit to monitor our main office door which is an interiror door in a commercial building. Tested and then installed the video intercom system last week and so far, so good. Set up and installation was very simple. Nice feature is the ability to change the camera view angle (ie: up or down, right or left). This was very important in our situation as the door is at an angle. Audio and video are crisp and clear at the range we are using it, about 25 feet but through 2 walls and 2 doors. A feature that would be nice to have, which I don't think is currently available on this unit, would be to be able to check video feed without someone ringing the intercom button. Would be nice to be able to activate the camera to see if anyone is loitering in hallway. Also, nice that we can add on to the system. We will probably add the door release option at some point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Product For Handicaped My spouse can see who is at the door and converse with the visitor while she is confined to her recliner. The door bell is loud enough to be heard throughout the house. Good picture. The battery charge lasts a long time. However, the recharge function should not be used at night, because when the battery is fully charged, the unit emits a loud tone signal interrupting one's sleep.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product.Easy to install and set up. I live alone and didnt like opening door unless I knew who was there. Now, they ring doorbell and I can look at the monitor to see whose there. Feel a little safer now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I installed it at my eighty eight year old mother's house and she loves it. She uses a walker and now she can screen who is at the door safety.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as advertised, but for the price would expect more We got this for one-night-a-week use at church. It does what it says pretty well, although range is an issue. The optimistic marketing claim is 330' line-of-sight, we can't quite get it sufficiently at maybe 75' through a few walls. But........really, in this smartphone, IoT, nearly disposable electronics world, the price is pretty steep for a pair of audio radios with a low-res video transmitter and tiny screen. On the other hand, it's direct linked local 2.4GHz, not all cloud-y with the attendant complications, privacy / security issues, downtime and horrendous lag (the latter being the reason we got rid of our Ring). This Just Works at short range. One last note, if you want to view the video on demand at any time, not just when someone rings the bell, realize you have to hardwire power to the bell. I believe it has a reasonable voltage input range. If hard wiring to your building electrical system is unwieldy, you could also put together a simple battery pack and stash it, maybe even in place of the current batteries (shorter runtime though).
