Garmin 010-01317-05 Overview

Stay active and connected with the slate Garmin vivosmart Activity Tracker. This model is a size small, fitting wrists 5.0 to 6.8" around. This wristband tracks and shows number of steps walked, distance traveled, calories burned, and time spent active as well as showing the time of day on its touchscreen OLED display. It also tracks time slept and functions as an alarm clock. When connected to compatible smartphones and tablets via Bluetooth 4.0, vivosmart transmits your activity to the free Garmin Connect mobile app while displaying phone call, text, and email notifications on the wristband's touchscreen.

vivosmart is designed to motivate wearers towards better fitness and an active lifestyle. It will notify you if you spend over an hour without moving around, and learns your activity level before assigning daily goals that adjust over time as you progress. Goals are rewarded with virtual badges on Garmin Connect, where you can join online challenges with other users or earn bragging rights in a competition with friends.

vivosmart's battery lasts for up to 7 days, and the device is water resistant to 164'. It can display heart rate and cycling data when paired with ANT+ heart rate monitors and bike speed sensors and can control the Garmin VIRB action camera. It comes with a charging/data clip as well as the vivokeeper for a more secure wrist closure.

Move Bar
Sitting for prolonged periods of time can trigger undesirable metabolic state changes. The move bar encourages you to move, breaking up long periods of inactivity. vivosmart remembers how long it's been since you moved around, and after 1 hour of inactivity, it reminds you by vibrating and displaying a message to "MOVE!" and filling in the first segment of the move bar. Additional segments are filled in after every 15 minutes of inactivity. vivosmart will vibrate and display the bar with the message again after two hours of inactivity. A timer at the bottom of the bar also shows exactly how long you have been inactive. Reset the move bar with two minutes of continuous walking.
Garmin Connect Online Community
At Garmin Connect, you can track your progress and earn virtual badges for extra motivation. You can also join online challenges and connect, compete, and compare with friends and family around the world. Garmin Connect is available on your computer or compatible mobile device.
Auto Goal
vivosmart will learn your activity level, and assign a step goal. If you meet your goal it will gradually increase, encouraging you to be more active, and if you fail to reach your goal it will start to reduce so you aren't discouraged and can get back on track. By default, auto goal is enabled, but the user can alternatively enter a manual goal via Garmin Connect which will be sent to the device.
Sleep Tracking
Set the sleep mode at bedtime and monitor your rest. vivosmart tracks your sleep activity during the night and can upload the data in the morning to Garmin Connect, so you can view your hours asleep as well as periods of movement. The built-in alarm can wake you in the morning with a gentle vibration instead of a loud, disturbing noise.
Hidden OLED Touchscreen Display
The touch-enabled 128 x 16 display uses OLED technology to conserve battery life. When activated, it shines through the band to reveal your steps, distance traveled, calories burned, time of day, and more. Swipe side to side to see your data, or tap and hold to adjust the screen brightness, start a timed activity, and more.
Bluetooth Sync
vivosmart automatically syncs with your connected Bluetooth mobile device at strategic times throughout the day, like when a goal is met or when several steps have been taken since the last sync.
Other Bluetooth Connected Features
  • Notifications: Vibrates and displays notifications of incoming texts, email messages, calls, calendar reminders, and more.
  • Find my phone: Helps locate a lost mobile device that is paired using Bluetooth.
  • Abandoned phone alert: Vibrates and alerts you when your paired mobile device is no longer within Bluetooth range.
  • Music controls: Play, pause, and skip back and forward when listening to music on your paired mobile device.
Waterproof
vivosmart has a water rating of 5 ATM (164', or 50 meters), so you can shower, swim, and dive without losing track of your activity.
Pairs with Additional Fitness and Sporting Devices
vivosmart can pair with ANT+ equipped heart rate monitors and bicycle computers. It can also connect to the Garmin VIRB action camera to start/stop recording and take still images.
