Samsung SM-G900A overview

  • 1Description

The charcoal black Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A 16GB AT&T Branded Smartphone combines power and convenience in a durable design. This smartphone incorporates 2GB of RAM, and is powered by the 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 chipset, which consists of a quad-core Krait 400 CPU. This device has 16GB of storage and features a microSDXC slot, which supports cards up to 128GB for expanded storage capacity. The integrated micro-USB 3.0 interface allows you to connect the device for mass-storage purposes, and also serves as a charging port. Additionally, you can use the micro-USB port to connect an optional MHL adapter for outputting video to an external display.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is endowed with an expansive 5.1" Super AMOLED screen, which is designed to produce bright images with robust color reproduction. The screen's 1920 x 1080 resolution enables you to view full HD content without pixel loss. For photo capturing and video chatting, this smartphone features a 2-megapixel front camera and a 16-megapixel rear camera. The rear camera's 1/2.6" sensor rivals point-and-shoot cameras and allows you to capture quality imagery. Autofocus is also built-in and there's even an LED flash for taking pictures in low-light situations. On the video side, the rear camera allows you to capture detailed video at vivid UHD 4K resolution.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has Bluetooth 4.0 built-in for pairing with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi for high-speed Internet connectivity. Integrated Wi-Fi Direct and NFC give you the ability to connect-to compatible devices for wirelessly sharing content like photos and music. GPS with GLONASS is also on-board for using Google Location and Maps services. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a removable 2800mAh battery that can deliver up to 29 hours of talk time, and up to 14 hours of video playback.

LTE is an advanced cellular network data protocol capable of data speeds so fast that they compete with wired broadband Internet providers. With an LTE connection, this phone should have no problem streaming HD video, downloading apps, uploading photos, or anything else that requires a high-speed data connection. The phone is also backwards compatible with 3G and 2G data for instances when you can't get LTE. In addition to cellular wireless, this phone also features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Note: Not compatible with all cellular networks. Please make sure your provider uses a frequency or band that this phone supports. You can check which bands this phone works with in the Specifications.
    AT&T Branded
This phone is AT&T branded and pre-loaded with AT&T firmware and applications. The phone was originally manufactured and locked for AT&T, but it has since been unlocked for resale. The phone is new and not pre-owned, though the box has been opened in order to unlock the phone. The phone may be used on any compatible carrier; however, certain features may not work. The phone is dependent on AT&T for software updates and may not fully support all non-carrier branded smartphone features, such as Wi-Fi tethering.
    Android 5.1 Lollipop
The Android operating system integrates heavily with Google's services. Using the card-based Google Now, Android quickly surfaces information for you whenever you need it, powered by the same Knowledge Engine that runs Google's web search. It's a personalized and customizable OS, allowing you to add your favorite apps or widgets to your homescreen. You can even download new themes using the Google Play Store, which offers access to more than one million apps, games, books, music, movies, and more. Android 5.1 is the second version of the OS known as Lollipop. It takes the myriad improvements from Android 5.0-the "Material Design" visual overhaul, revamped multitasking, and multi-user support-and goes even further, adding official support for HD Voice, added security features such as Device Protection, and more.

    Samsung SM-G900A reviews

Galaxy S5 SM-G900A 16GB AT&T Branded Smartphone (Unlocked, Charcoal Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 168.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Charging Issues I have always purchased Samsung products but will not anymore. I was replacing a Samsung S5 that was less than one year old because of charging issues and thought it was a fluke, but after recieving a brand new Samsung S5, same issue right out of the box, I also had a S4 and it has the sim card not detected issue. I don't know what's goning on with Samsung but I am staying away until they get their quailty control fixed. I'm very frustrated, these phones are expensive and I treat them with the kid gloves, I keep them in a otter box defender from day one and always careful with the usb port, I need my phone but Samsung is puttin out some garbage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Phone I upgraded from a Galaxy S3. I had no trouble getting the G5 to work with the Consumer Cellular network. I just moved the SIM card from the S3 to the S5 and was up and running. The S5 is much faster and with the larger internal memory is easier to use. The phone boots up and shuts down much faster than the S3. The longer battery life is also good. Two minor issues: 1. The funky charging port cover and one of a kind cable (not mini USB)requires new accessories (car charger). 2. The G5 antenna seems to be not as good as the S3. I only have a single bar on the S5 when the S3 always had 3 or 4 bars at my home. I still have 4Glte coverage, but I find it not as robust.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but complicated The phone its good, but when I bought i didnt think that the brand (AT & T) could influenced too much. It turns out to have the update 4.4.4 ( Kitkat ) NOT the Lolypop referring in the notice. I can not update a new software because I get a message that depends on AT & T. It comes with AT & T applications that can not be uninstalled. And finally, by putting a chip that is not brand it has an error (it is only a sign that appears from time to time but annoying) In conclusion , for someone who will not use the phone with AT & T company recommend buying unbranded version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent phone Phone came quickly and as advertised. Phone was new and came in original sealed Samsung box. I wanted to use thus phone on Consumer Cellular system. Signed up. They sent me a SIM card and assisted me with settings over the telephone. Phone was up and running in ten minutes. Everything works great. I get five bars on the phone from inside my home. Battery charge lasts two or three days. I was able to update software to Android 5.1.1 and assume I will be able to move to Android 6 when Samsung pushes it out next summer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great phone and TV remote! I love the IR blaster to control my TV's, blue ray, AV receiver etc. The large display is beautiful and the processor is so fast there is no lag. I uninstalled and disabled most of the AT&T and Samsung bloatware apps and my battery lasts all day with 15% to spare at bedtime. The waterproof feature gives good peace of mind and the fingerprint scanner works ok but got a little annoying so I stopped using it to unlock the screen. I'm not too worried about security. I stuck my credit cards to the back of my old GS3 but I can't do that with my S5 because the speaker is in the way. I wish it wasn't gold, but it was less expensive in gold so I just put a cover on it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not really Unlocked. Will not hotspot My primary reason for getting this phone was to use it for a hotspot or tethering to my computer on any network. I was sooo disappointed. I travel abroad most of the year and need it to work everywhere. Unfortunately AT&T has locked the hotspot feature. It is only available if you use AT&T as your carrier. Even so, they'll charge you for the privilege.....and the data you already purchased. HOWEVER...I did get it to work. You'll need to gain ROOT access with super user privileges, load a couple apps, and install some files. The hotspot works great now but it took two days of my life I'll never get back not to mention a bunch of useless knowledge I'll never use again. That's not completely true...with access you can also delete all the AT&T bloatware and anything else you don't want.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, Capable Phone Truly a powerful device. It brings up web pages nearly as fast as my desktop computer. I'm running it on the Cricket network, which uses AT&T's towers; I also use it on Wi-Fi. I use it for Phone, text, internet, navigation, photos/video, voice recorder/text notes. The forward camera takes decent pictures, but struggles a bit in low light; It's still worth using when I don't have my actual camera with me. I find the video quality to be quite impressive for a phone. This phone is very capable, but I've noticed fairly heavy battery drain when shooting, surfing, or viewing a lot of content. Luckily, it also charges pretty fast.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective and no factory warranty Screen stopped working within a month or two of purchase. Samsung provides a 12 month warranty but say it has expired despite this phone supposedly being sold new and only 4 months old at this time. B&H refuses to swap for a working phone. They expect me to ship the bad phone (at my expense) to Brooklyn and wait 2 months for a possible repair. Is this the type service after the sale you would want?
