The Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD from Belkin features two Thunderbolt 2 ports, one HDMI port, three USB 3.0 ports, one Gigabit Ethernet port, one 3.5mm headphone output jack, and one 3.5mm audio input jack. The variety of ports allows you to use this dock to connect up to eight devices, including dual displays, to your computer using only a single Thunderbolt cable. This allows for enhanced data transfer speeds and HDMI connectivity that supports 4KCinema resolution. However, please be aware that 4K Cinema resolution is currently only supported on Mac OS X 10.10. You will also benefit from the ability to daisy-chain up to 5 total Thunderbolt devices to your system, helping to eliminate the need for extra cables to connect multiple devices.
This Thunderbolt 2 dock supports data transfer speeds up to 20 Gb/s as well as smartphone and tablet charging at a speed of 2.1A. Although each USB 3.0 port does not have a dedicated controller, they do not share any bandwidth and can reach a speed of up to 5 Gb/s. This dock is also backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 10 Gb/s devices. Included are a 3.3' Thunderbolt cable and a 12V/6A power supply.
If using dual displays, please be aware that at least one display has to be Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 technology-ready. For displays that are not Thunderbolt technology-ready, the Thunderbolt port is backwards compatible with Mini DisplayPort. The dock supports either HDMI or Mini DisplayPort, but not both. The dock also supports only one display at 4K cinema resolution. Additionally, 4K resolution is currently only supported on Mac OS X 10.10
