Behringer XD80USB overview

  • 1Description

Supplying you with 15 drum sets for quiet practicing as well as live performance use, the XD80USB 8-Piece Electronic Drumset with Drum Module from Behringer features their HDS240USB sound module with 175 sounds, 10 factory presets, and 5 user-programmable slots. It employs Behringer's High Definition Sampling (HDS) technology that is designed to provide an authentic, acoustic-style drumming experience. The kits snare and 3 tom triggers boast dual zones for drum head and rim playing techniques.

The sound module features a built-in metronome and sequencer for play-along practice and performance, while its audio input allows you to play along with tracks from your portable device or MP3 player. Thanks to its USB and MIDI output, you can use the XD80USB to trigger virtual instruments or other software in addition to its built-in sounds.

Ready to Rock Right Out of the Box
Behringer knows how much you love to play, so they designed their XD Series drum kits for fast, tool-free setup. Just pull the kit out of the box, position the drum and cymbal pads the way you like 'em and plug in; it's just that simple. And when you're finished playing, just fold up the kit and stash it behind the couch or underneath the bed
Authentic Feel
The way drums feel is one of the most important factors, especially for drummers who use electronic drums for practice and then return to an acoustic kit for live performance. So Behringer gave the pads a natural rubber surface, which mimics the feel of real skins and minimizes false triggering. All of their kits feature sturdy, extruded aluminum frames, which provide a solid foundation for the drum and cymbal pads
Sound Quality
Easy setup and feel are important, but how do they sound? Thanks to their vast libraries of studio and live drum, percussion and cymbal sounds, XD Series drums have a collection of pro sounds to choose from. And if that's still not enough, you can always use XD's MIDI capability to build your own library via external MIDI sound modules, plus you can program and store your favorite kits for instant recall
March to the Beat of Your Own Drum
Acoustic drums sound fantastic, but can cause volume issues, especially in a small club or when you need to practice at home late at night. XD Series drum kits provide a volume solution, allowing you to control the level and still satisfy your desire to rock out. You can practice with the built-in metronome or play along with your favorite tunes thanks to the Aux inputs and USB connectivity. Output options abound, including headphones (your neighbors will thank you), stereo and mono Main Outs, plus USB/MIDI for hooking up external sound modules
8-piece electronic drum set with HDS240USB sound module
10 factory presets plus 5 user-programmable drum sets
Large LCD and icon-driven user interface for easy operation
USB and MIDI interfaces to connect with any virtual instrument and drum software (not included)
175 studio-grade drum, cymbal and percussion sounds
Realistic-feeling, natural playing trigger pads and cymbals
Dual-zone snare and tom pads for drum head and rim playing techniques
Dual-zone crash and ride cymbals for bell and rim playing styles

    Behringer XD80USB reviews

XD80USB 8-Piece Electronic Drumset with Drum Module is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great starter set I replaced a studio drum set with the Beringer XD80USB and have been surprisingly impressed. The head surface does not have non-drum sound I've experienced with some cheaper drum sets. Fairly easy to assemble, not 20 minutes like 1 review said (video review), but pretty straight forward. Could be a little complicated if it's your first electronic set. The set has a nice, simple controller that is quick to master, even for novice. I love the fact it has everything you need in the box to get started (except the throne). For a beginner set, this is definitely hard to beat (not literally). I would buy this set again!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good for very light playing. I bought this kit a while back and decided to give it solid use before leaving a review. Well, over half a year later I can say that this kit is only good for very, very light practice. The bass drum has died, multiple cables are non responsive, and the snare pad is beginning to cave in. Granted I play everyday for a few hours so maybe this kit would be better if used less frequently. I would recommend this kit only for someone just entering the drum world and looking to get a feel for things. For serious players, I would save your pennies and spring for something of higher quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm a drummer of 21 years. I can play on a professional level. Bought the kit as I'm a family man and didn't want to spend a ton on a new kit. I was excited at first, then the bass drum broke from my double bass hits. Returned it only to find out 8 week back order. Today my snare died. The pad itself not the cable. Decided that was enough of a clue for me. I have only played it about 5 times with 2 pieces now broken. B+H has been awesome though!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for practise and beginners I bought this kit 2 weeks ago. It arrived with everything in the box needly. I was a bit shocked at how big and heavy the box is. Unfortunately the bassdrum was not working when I kick started the kit. I know how electronic drums work so I opened up the pad to find out that one cable was not soldered and lose from the piezo element. fixed it in 2 minutes. I know, not wise in terms of garantee, but had no intension of sending the whole thing back. Kit is working great, the rebounce of the pads are ok, allthough the Alesis and Roland pads have much better rebounce. I use it as a practise kit, and to much rebounce makes you a lazy drummer. So in my case it's ok. The kit has great dynamics if you play with not to heavy sticks, especially the kick pad. Amazed by this! The pedal that comes with the kit is ok, but not great for real speed and accuracy. The drum module is easy and works good, although I'm not impressed by the sounds in this module, pretty cheap. Roland and Yamaha have much better realistic sounding drums. But, I connected it to Native Instruments Batterie and this works amazing! As I'm a writer and producer of cinema music this kit is a great ad on for playing real drumlines i.c.w. drummachines. Important to say, the midi mapping is perfect. When I was researching for the midi mapping I couldn't find any info about this kit! I've read that someone had 2 non funtioning pads after plaing 5 times on it. To me they seem pretty robust. This kit is good if you need a budget practise kit, good for beginners and for programming drumlines in computer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very great sounding elctronic drum Hi use this drumset at home with a headphone. I'm totaly new to drumming and it's my first electronic drum and I encounter no problem for hooking and mounting the set. what's impressive is they are no delay when playing the set feel really natural. The only cons is that the kick pad slip when playing on concrete floor like at home. otherwise I really happy with this and worth the price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome drum kit First off I am not a drummer, still learning. I was using an Ion IED-11 kit, but it never felt right and the smack of the pads overpowered the sound output. I saw this kit on a utube demo, looked up the specs and went for it. All I can say is awesome. Simple set up, all parts were there, and a nice simple set up guide. Playing it was the most awesome, the feel is incredible. I only have distant memories of playing on an acoustic set and this took me right back to that time. The sticks reacted to the pads just like I remember on an acoustic set. So easy to play and so responsive. I am actually now learning to play and its fun! This kit is everything Behringer claimed it was. The only real negative is no owners manual yet available from Behringer, though their Support has been responsive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for small jam sessions and practice I am a weekend drummer. I play with a small group of guys in mini-jam sessions. We are not professionals. This kit is very portable which I like. It gives me the ability to practice at home without bothering my wife and kids late at night. An acoustic kit this is not. An experienced drummer will make this kit sound awesome. A beginner will learn bad habits from the drum, kick pad and hi-hat responses. This is a great product for small churches or venues where sound control is hard.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value Starter Set Christmas present for tween son. So far he loves it. Still learning the settings; not sure how(if can?) set rims on the Toms even though says all are dual zone. Also trying to figure out how to choke cymbal.....lots of trial and error since no detailed user instructions included or available on the Behringer website. Bass drum and pedal are just OK. Pedal slides, even on carpet with pins all the way down, so just put some weights on it to hold in place. Drum pad sensitivity could be better: not very load even at the highest (16) settings. Stick rebound off pads are a bit stiffer than real drum heads or Roland/Yamaha heads, but that's true of most electronic sets. My son does not seem to mind so far. Good input connections from other devices to mix music with playing; outputs to amps/stereo works well. Would recommend for a starter set at this price. If your a professional, this may not be the set for you unless limited on funds or space. Nice set overall....hope the heads and internal wiring connections hold.
