B&H has put together the Celestron NexStar 8 SE Observation Kit to give you everything you'll need to get out and sky watch. It includes a 8" NexStar 8 SE catadioptric telescope with a stainless steel adjustable-height tripod, the SkyPortal WiFi module that directly connects to your smartphone running the free SkyPortal app, a Power Tank power pack, an AC to DC power adapter, a 5-piece eyepiece set, 6 planetary filters, a Moon filter, a 2x Barlow lens, and a foam-lined hard carrying case for the eyepieces and filters. No matter where you are, or what you want to observe, this kit has you covered.

  • Celestron NexStar 8 SE 203mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope

Celestron's NexStar 8 SE 203mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope is a powerful, versatile and user-friendly Schmidt-Cassegrain style telescope that can be used for observing everything from the Moon and planets to deep sky objects like galaxies and nebulae. Using Celestron's improved proprietary StarBright XLT multi-coating system, light transmission is increased throughout the entire optical path with anti-reflection multi-coated lenses, highly reflective multi-coated mirrors, and 4-element rare-earth glass. While the focal ratio is a slow f/10, the scope's precision tracking system allows it to be a competent astrophotography/astroimaging platform for the Moon and planets.

Driving the dual servo motors on the mount is the brains of the NexStar 8: the iconic NexStar computer hand controller. Packed with over 40,000 celestial objects, it can hold up to 200 additional user-defined destinations and is updateable via the Celestron website. It has multiple alignment procedures to get you observing fast - including the super-easy SkyAlign system. Capable of being used in the northern or southern hemispheres, the NexStar has sidereal, lunar and solar tracking speeds to accurately follow near and deep-sky objects, plus nine slew speeds.

  • Celestron Ultra High Contrast Light Pollution Reduction Filter (1.25")

LPR (light pollution reduction) filters are designed to selectively reduce transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light.  These include mercury vapor, high & low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emissions in our atmosphere.  The UHC LPR filter has improved contrast over the typical broadband filters, giving darker background skies and noticeably improved contrast of emission nebulae.  The advanced coatings enable and impressive 97% total transmission across the entire bandpass, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines.  It is a perfect filter for viewing nebula from light polluted skies as well as for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites.

Multilayer, plasma-assisted and Ionbeam hardened dielectric coatings yield supreme durability
