Productivity sees a boost due to the ReadyScan LED light source which can warm up in less than 1 second to immediately start scanning. The V850 features a reflective scan area of 8.5 x 11.7" as well as an 8 x 10" built-in transparency unit for scanning film. is the epsonv850 a stand alone scanner?
Asked by: David
Yes, I'm not real sure what you mean by "stand alone," it needs to be connected to a computer/laptop so you can see what you're doing. It comes with 2 different kinds of software, I just use the Epson. I found the other one more confusing than helpful. I hope this helps. I Can say It'd a GREAT Scanner, the BEST for the $$$.

Is there a way to batch scan 35mm negatives or one has to preview/select/scan each negative?
Asked by: Terry
As long as the lines between the frames are easily visible to the scanner, the V850 will be able to batch scan up to 18 negatives in a batch scan. Negatives with a dark background will be harder for the scanner to define the start and end of each frame so sometimes manual scanning will be required.

Given the 12 slide holder, how does Epson Scan number the files? Right to left? Up to down?

It's right to left, more specifically, you have the option of scanning either direction in the scanning software. I use the Silverfast software included with the scanner.

How long does it take to scan 12 slides (one holder) at around 3200 dpi into jpeg format (using the Epson Software)?
Asked by: Catherine
I honestly have not tried that yet. Any batch scanning at a relatively high dpi setting requires you to have some other work to perform while the scan is in progress. Just know it will take some time. Any scanner will. Google it...
