Benro A48TDS4 overview

  • 1Description

This Benro A48TDS4 Series 4 Aluminum Monopod includes the 3-Leg Locking Base and S4 Video Head to give you a versatile still or video camera support system. Able to hold up to 8.8 lb and extend to 72.3", the removable base provides three solid points of contact with the ground, and acts like a mini tripod. A ball joint on the base allows you to smoothly pan and tilt your camera, and it can be locked so that you can pan with the head independently.

The base can be replaced with the included rubber foot for standard monopod use. The four leg sections are secured by twist locks, and it folds down to 26.6" for transport in the included carrying case. The S4 is a compact video head with 360° rotation, fluid drag, and spring balance. There are separate pan and tilt lock levers, and a sliding quick release plate helps to balance the camera.

  • S4 Video Head

The Benro S4 Video Head weighs only 1.5 pounds, is compact, and capable of supporting cameras weighing up to 8.8 pounds. The head has a fluid drag system and spring balance, with 360° panning rotation for smooth camera moves. There are separate pan and tilt lock levers for lock off shots. The sliding quick release (QR) plate helps to balance the camera, and the head comes with a safety lock for the QR Plate. The S4 Video Head accepts 501PL compatible quick release plates, making it easy to find spares or replacements.

The integrated bubble level aids in setting up level horizons. The adjustable Pan Handle can be mounted to either side of the S4 Video Head using the built in mounting rosettes. The S4 Video Head can be mounted to ball adapters, tripods and other camera supports via the 3/8" threaded female receiver on the magnesium alloy flat base.

Benro A48TDS4 reviews

A48TDS4 Series 4 Aluminum Monopod with 3-Leg Locking Base and S4 Video Head is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great quality Monopod!!! I was looking at the Manfrotto monopod with 500 head, but ultimately decided to purchase the Benro. I have to pat myself on the back for making a great choice! Not only did I receive a great monopod with an awesome head, but I saved money in the process!! This is the monopod with the locking base which I prefer and have used this as a temp tripod for indoors situations. The S4 head is light weight, but smooth and a joy to use. If I had some cons it would be that the plate release button is a little on the cheap side and the camera plate itself is also of less quality. The good thing is that it accepts the Manfrotto camera plates which are readily available.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, easy to use and smooth tilt I use this with both a 5D Mark III with battery pack and zoom lens (24-70 & 70-200) or with a GH3 and prime lens. In both cases it is very comfortable to use, the head tilts smoothly and it is very simple to find the right balance. It is also small, light and easy to carry. I prefer this one over the Manfrotto video monopod. Cons: the construction could be a little bit better, the horizontal panning smoother (quite tight so far, but you can also pan from the bottom) and the plate easier to insert/remove.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, compact, easy to use Originally I planed to purchase a Manfrotto monopod, but ultimately decided to pick the Benro. It has some extra features and it's cheaper than Manfrotto one. Pan and tilt are smooth, not heavy, easy to travel with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken! Benro will not replace under warranty! I have had this a year now. The base completely broke off, bolt snapped under normal use. It does come with a 3 year warranty but Benro is refusing to replace or fix saying there's no way it could have happened under normal use. I own 2 manfrotto monopods. One of them disappeared at an event so I decided to save some money and buy the Benro this time. In general it is not as fluid or stable as my other Manfrotto but it still worked ok so decided to keep it. In the end you get what you pay for - cheaply made and no warranty protection!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from To heavy at the top Te bottom must have the thicker part because Wright now the top is to heavy for the little legs I think if the bottom tube comes out (up) is going to have more stability.
