    Sony 32GB reviews

32GB G Series XQD Format Version 2 Memory Card is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 62.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised. Use it in my D500 Nikon. This combination is perfect for shooting fast moving wildlife. Lightning fast and never seems to run out of buffer. Included readers work without a hitch. Got two 32 gb cards and keep one reader attached to my desktop. The other goes with my laptop, so I'm always covered. Thinking of getting larger card so I won't have to go to the back up sd card. Heard lots of complaints about xqd cards on internet sites, but have had no issues at all with the Sony. My next card will be the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent as expected I purchased this G-Series XQD Card to replace my older original H-Series Cards. Although I had no complaints about my older XQD Cards, this G-Series card is super fast. Excellent for speeding up transfer to my iMac. I do like that the price includes a USB 3.0 card reader. It's a hassle if you own the G-Series and any other older XQD cards, because the new reader only works with G-Series Cards and you'll need another XQD Card Reader for your other cards. The included card reader has a simple and compact design which is nice. Plastic is a bit cheap though. Overall an excellent product for the price. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast Memory Card - Wish Price Was Lower I own 3 of the G Series 32GB XQD cards as well as 8 earlier series XQD cards. The speed of this card is far superior to other cards, even my fastest Lexar CF card. I use the cards with a Nikon D4S camera with no problems. It is nice they come with a card reader. The card reader will only work with the G Series and not earlier series cards. To me this is takes 1 star off the rating. Also, this card can't be read in older XQD readers. So if you have this G series and other series of XQD, then you have to have two card readers. I wish Sony would offer multi-packs of cards with just one reader, as a way to get the price of the product down some. On my Nikon D4S, shooting 14-bit Lossless Compressed RAW I get about 1,700 raw images per 32GB card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast card! I purchased this to replace an older XQD card that was lost, and was happily surprised by how much faster this newer one is. No real world time tests yet, but it's fast. My only complaint is that it comes with a new proprietary card reader, so if you're using these cards in combination with the older ones you'll need to carry two card readers with you, and also be sure which reader is for which card. However the performance of this card is better enough that I'll probably just buy a few more and save the old ones as spares.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightning Fast and I would buy another I use this card for my granddaughters soccer games, in a Nikon D500. Boy is this thing fast. I have not yet reached the buffer write limit where the camera had to stop shooting. I have been impressed with the build quality, but then again, Sony is #1 in my book. The only drawback is to make sure that the card is firmly engaged into the camera body slot. On a couple of occasions, I have been negligent and the images were recorded to the SD card first and I quickly filled up the SD card first. So I make sure that I firmly insert the XQD card and give it another press to be sure it's inserted all the way in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A worthy upgrade. The image above shows you what comes with the new package. What I found very useful was that Sony is providing a new reader for the G memory card. However, this new reader only works with G memory cards. This is kinda lame on Sony not making it backward compatible. I have not been able to test to see if my Sony Express Card reader work with it yet because Sony is dragging their butt in updating the needed driver to work with OS X 10...not happy with them on that part as well. Bad-boy Sony...bad! Now, if you were luck to get one of the early D4's when they first came available, Nikon and Sony had a nice bundle with every D4. Namely, it came with a 16Gig XQD H-memory card; moreover, they also offered a USB card reader as well (Good-boy's Sony/Nikon). This original reader does recognize the new G-memroy cards, but it is not USB 3.0, thus the transfer rate is I'm sure maxed out at the USB 2.0 read/write speed. My current MacBook Pro 17 lacks USB 3.0 so I cannot fully take advantage of the G-Card transfer rate. Having said that, I was still able to get better transfer rate using the G card reader than the original card reader that came with the H series memory card. 1.5Gig worth of image taken with my S-series 168 MB/s memory card took 14.45 second to transfer (via original card reader); while with the new G-seriers 400MB/s card took 13.8 seconds (via G card reader). The buffer does clean-out faster as well, thus allowing less time between shooting cycles when buffer fills up, but the exact level of performance gained is something I did not test. I'm sure more precise test will begin showing up on the web, by others with more sophisticated testing equipment than mine, but so far I'm pleased with the performance. Side bar: The G-card reader has a removable cap that expose a USB connector, thus allowing you to connect it directly to a USB on a laptop or to the front of a desktop computer. If you lack such an interface, then you put the cap back on and use the extender cable provided.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 32GB G Series XQD Format Version 2 Memory Card Working well with the Nikon D500 -not as fast when downloading but fast enough when shooting where it counts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like it, but.... Sony makes it difficult to love their XQD memory products. With their original XQD cards, it was necessary to download firmware to be able to consistently transfer files to your computer. Also you needed to use their card reader. Apparently the firmware is not available for some of the latest OS. Each G Series card includes a G Series reader. Their original reader does not appear to work with the G Series cards. The new G series reader works great, and does not require firmware of any kind. What it does require, for speed and consistency, is the latest OS on your computer. This info was not included with the G series cards I purchased. I almost returned them, but researching a competitors product did not make me comfortable. To figure it out, I did research on the Sony website. One can only hope the new M series card will not require a different reader. Having said all that, I am rating the G Series cards as 5 star, because they work great in both my D4s bodies, and my laptop with the latest OS. So for me they are a 5, but only after some time and frustration figuring out how to make them work. I would recommend to a friend with the condition that the friend understands how to use Sony XQD cards before a purchase.
