The drum did last to around 11,000 pages before it started saying I needed a new one. I have had this printer for about 3 years now. So I think that was a pretty good run!
As usual these days, printer consumables are quite expensive, but what are you gonna do? At least it works, although we bought this because the drum we have in the printer had become really squeaky, so we replaced it before it was at end of life--frustrating when, again, these parts are so expensive. Also disappointing is Brother does not offer a takeback program for recycling their used consumables. Fortunately, we have a Konica printer, and Konica Minolta has a program that takes back other brands' consumables as well as their own.
