Rock your field trip, lab, or classroom with the TetraView 5.0MP Cordless Digital Microscope from Celestron. This full-size digital microscope is built around its 5.0MP digital CMOS sensor, capable of capturing high-resolution color images and videos at 20 frames per second. You can view them on the built-in 4.3" color LCD TFT display and relay to an external monitor or a recording device. To make saving your findings and observations a seamless experience, the LCD module offers an easy-to-use control panel, a 32GB microSD memory slot, and a mini-USB data port. To provide vivid and crisp images, the opto-mechanics feature a 4-position nosepiece with four achromatic objectives (4x, 10x, 20x, and 40x), a bottom LED illumination system with adjustable brightness, a 0.65 NA condenser lens, and a 6-position filter/diaphragm wheel. You are also empowered by the generous focusing range to ensure that no details will be left unseen. In addition to digital output, this scope features an AV video-out port.

This versatile device also does not cut short on comfort and ergonomics. It features an arched frame to serve as a carry handle and packs a battery compartment for four AA user-supplied batteries, which can provide 3 hours of uninterrupted cordless operation. For corded operation, the scope has a universal 100-240 VAC adapter (that works in most parts of the world) and wall plugs for the USA, UK, Europe, and Australia. To provide enough room for movement, its sturdy metal mechanical 3.5 x 3.5" stage offers Vernier control for motion in two dimensions and a bracket for holding your specimen slides. For sharing views with your team or students, the display head can rotate 180°. Using the fine and coarse focusing knobs, it allows you to achieve optimal focusing positions. The microscope also ships with other multiple lab accessories that you will find quite handy in your explorations and studies.

TetraView 5.0MP Cordless Digital Microscope (Black) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent microscope The digital camera and viewer are second to none. It is better than what is available to me in my science department. As to its limits, I can dimly make out fuzzy bacterial cells on a professionally prepared bacterial microscope slide - as one would expect for 400x without phase contrast or an oil immersion lense. The image quality for eukaryotic cells is crystal clear and outstanding. The batteries fit in the battery compartment just fine and the electric plug also works just fine. The light on the tetraview cannot penetrate a leaf but I have worked with professional scopes whose lighting is powerful enough to penetrate a leaf without further sectioning to make it thinner. Overall, it seems to be a very good product that is professional grade in most of its components and optics. The digital components are outstanding. The light is sufficient, but I think some professional scopes have a more powerful light. Some of the parts, such as the little metal arm that holds a slide in place, seem a little bit more flimsy than a professional scope. I would still rate this scope very highly and it certainly exceeded my expectations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun and extraordinary looks at the invisible. The microscope is great for the money. At higher powers, though, you must remember that the depth of field is minimal. I wish they had a 20x instead of the 400x. The 5mp camera was a big disappointment. Depending on the colors on the slide, and their saturation, the AWB skews the colors wildly. A red object in most of the field turns the whites green. Fixable in Photoshop, but not perfect. The white balance should be set for the illuminating source.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great microscope This was just my son wanted. Great screen resolution and the ability to capture photos. I would recommend this to any budding scientist.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Got what I paid for. Good microscopes cost thousands of dollars. This one is worth what you pay. (Not much). There is no way to look directly at anything. The camera is terrible by today's standards. The white-balance adjustments are horrendous. I had to make monstrous adjustments in Photoshop to get a decent image. There are significant chromatic aberration problems. I used it two or three times and put it away.
