Do I need a separate pre-amp to plug the Sennheiser AVX transmitter w/ TRS to XLR into Channels 3 or 4 and get a clean signal?
Channels 3/4 on the Mackie Mix8 - 8-Channel Compact Mixer are line level inputs, so yes, you would need a microphone preamp to connect a mic level signal to them.

question
Hi...Just received the mix5...small and nice but...how can I listen to only headphones without also having music coming out the speakers? there is a to headphones button but doesn't do anything...thanks
Hi Michael, I have yet to try this with the Mix8 but I will look at it tonight. Have you tried engaging the To Phones button and disengaging the To Mix button? I am guess you have since it seems to be the way it would be done if possible. Though looking at the location of the buttons I am now wondering if they send the RCA inputs to the phones or to Main since they are stacked next to the RCA connectors. I'll do some more looking and experimenting on the 8 and let you know. - Craig

question
What is the signal to noise (s/n) ratio? I can't find it in the manual.
The company has not made that information available to the public at this point in time.
