Enjoy high-quality audio with the walnut Audioengine B2 Bluetooth Speaker. This speaker produces up to 60W of total power from its stereo design and incorporates dual 2.75" Kevlar woofers and 0.75" silk dome tweeters. Bluetooth 4.0 is built-in for wireless audio streaming from devices such as smartphones and tablets. This speaker also supports aptX, which delivers CD-like sound quality when paired with other aptX-enabled audio sources.
The Audioengine B2 Bluetooth Speaker uses a TI PCM5102A DAC for high-quality digital-to-analog conversion. In addition to the aforementioned Bluetooth connectivity, this speaker features a rear 3.5mm input. This interface allows you to connect a wide variety of wired audio sources. The B2 features an 18mm thick MDF cabinet with real wood veneer.
Digital-to-Analog Converter Characteristics
The B2 Bluetooth speaker system utilizes the TI PCM5102A DAC, which is regarded for its low noise and high fidelity. Due to the PCM5102A's high signal-to-noise specs, the digital signal is converted (upsampled) to 24-bits with the added benefit of triple redundancy power source conversion and filtering.

High-Quality Bluetooth Audio
The B2 features aptX coding, which is an advanced Bluetooth audio codec that's designed to provide CD-like sound quality when used with compatible audio sources. The B2 is backwards-compatible with all previous Bluetooth implementations, so you can wirelessly stream music from a wide variety of Bluetooth-enabled audio sources.
Custom-Built Audio Components
Audioengine designs its own tweeters, woofers, and many other critical components. Components like toroidal transformers, magnets, and wiring harnesses that are not made in their factory are custom-made to their specifications. The cabinets, drivers, bass port designs, amplifiers, and crossovers are all tuned together for each Audioengine model.
Based on Studio Monitor Designs
Studio monitor speakers are used by producers and engineers in recording and production studios. They are designed with a theoretical flat frequency response which allows the engineer to create a final mix in such a way that the recorded music will sound good on most other speakers. Although Audioengine speakers are not designed to be up-close "nearfield" studio monitors, Audioengine speakers employ similar high-end technology, components, and design philosophy.
Audioengine uses audiophile-quality, ferrofluid-cooled, silk dome tweeters with neodymium magnets. Silk tweeters are engineered to hold up well under high power conditions and the edge-driven design produces a smooth response. The custom woofers are Kevlar woven glass aramid composite with rubber surrounds. Kevlar is a durable material, which means that the woofer retains its shape when being driven at high volume levels. Because the speakers feature robust construction, speaker grilles aren't needed.
To minimize unwanted resonances and distortion, Audioengine cabinets have thick high-resin MDF walls with extensive internal bracing. Heavy internal sound-damping material is also used to reduce unwanted sound reflections inside the cabinet. The B2 cabinet is a unique design in that it has dual sub-enclosures to prevent cross-interference, while each side contains its own tuned, front-port bass slot.
The class-A/B amplifiers in Audioengine speaker systems are conservatively-rated analog designs. Each subsystem is tuned together for all models, providing an efficient system requiring less power than passive speakers and separate amplifiers. An auto-standby idle mode is also included to conserve power when you're not playing music.
Both drivers are magnetically-shielded, which allows protection for CRT displays and hard-drive music players.
