The Toughbook C2 CF-C2CSAZXCM Convertible Multi-Touch Tablet PC from Panasonic is built to withstand bumps, drops, and knocks when in use or carried. Encased in a magnesium alloy chassis and featuring a shock-mounted flex-connect hard drive, the Toughbook C2 belongs to Panasonic's "Semi-Rugged" series of Toughbooks, and has been tested and proven to withstand drops up to 2.5' from its six flat sides, and 1' from its other corners and edges.
The Multi-Touch display can be used as a conventional notebook screen, or it can be swiveled and laid flat to emulate a tablet. In both configurations, the user can navigate using fingers, gloves, or the included stylus, which can be stored in the integrated holder. When set up traditionally, the notebook can be navigated by means of an 84-key standard keyboard and an oversized electrostatic touchpad with multi-touch support. When folded flat, it can also be navigated by six tablet buttons - two of which are user-definable.
This notebook comes with 4GB of installed RAM, a 500GB 7200rpm SATA hard drive, and a 1.9 GHz Intel i5-4300U vPro 4th-generation dual-core processor. The C2's screen measures 12.5" and has a sharp, LED-backlit, daylight-readable 500 nit IPS display with direct bonding for wider viewing angles. It has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 and features Panasonic's five-point multi-touch smart screen.
The Toughbook C2 is equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. It is protected with a variety of security features including Hard Disk Lock and Intel Anti-Theft Technology. An integrated 1.3MP webcam, speakers, and microphone cover most communication needs, and USB 3.0, HDMI, and other ports are available for connecting peripherals and additional displays. The 10.8V battery provides 11 hours of use, and a bridge battery will keep the Toughbook running for up to one minute while you swap power sources.
This system runs Windows 7 Professional by default, but includes a license which the customer can use to update to Windows 8.1.
