Built to withstand use in harsh climates while still offering notable optical quality, the straight viewing HR 80 GA ED 24-72x80mm Fieldscope with SDL v2 Eyepiece from Opticron features a five-element apochromatic objective lens system with two extra-low dispersion elements to maintain high viewing resolution and clarity that is nearly void of chromatic aberrations. Benefitting this design, all air/glass surfaces have also been treated with an N-type extra wide band multicoating that improves contrast and color accuracy by maintaining light transmission.
Complementing the optical design of this scope is an equally robust magnesium alloy body construction that has been filled with nitrogen and hermetically-sealed for protection against all elements. Textured rubber armoring improves handling, as does a centrally-located focusing wheel, for focusing as closely as 26.2' away, and +/-90° rotating tripod collar. Additionally, a retractable lens hood shields the front element from stray light and a rotating eye cup on the eyepiece increases comfort when viewing.
