Key Features
- 150 lb Payload
- Compatible with 100mm & 75mm Tripods
- 100mm Ball Mount
- 75mm Fixed Ring Mount
The Kessler Crane Hercules 2.0 Head is a super-robust, solid aluminum pan and tilt head featuring a 100mm ball mount as well as 75mm fixed ring mount. It's compatible with both 100mm and 75mm bowl tripods and supports heavy-duty payloads up to 150 lb. Offering a flat surface on top with two 1/4"-20 mounting threads, this head supports direct attachment of Kessler cranes and sliders (except for the 5 ft CineSlider for stability purposes), allowing thus for very stable connection. To mount a camera, you'll just need an optional quick-release system that can be bolted into the 1/4"-20 threads. You can use the Kessler Crane Kwik Release or Manfrotto 577 adapter/plate system.

Can you use a low-profile tiedown for the bottom instead of this handle? I'd like to take the one from the benro hi-hat and use it for situations where the head is very low to the ground.
Yes you can, just as long as the low profile tie down has a 3/8"-16 connection.

question
what is needede to use this with an ursa mini and sony a7s ii?
This head has standard 1/4 -20 thread on the top of it. The simplest way to connect any camera to it will be to use a Quick Release Adapter Plate, such as the Manfrotto 577, B&H # MA577.https://bhpho.to/2g7RDlc

What makes this head different from other $500 ...
What makes this head different from other $500 heads? Why would you buy it over a comparable manfrotto head? Are there special features I'm not seeing or aware of?
The one thing that is unique about this head, assuming you can find legs that will also have the same or higher weight capacity, is the payload rating of 150lb., which is unheard of on other heads in the same price range.

question
Does the vertical tilt lock down well when there is a heavy load on the head? The system we will be mounting will be 50+ lbs, and will need to sometimes be locked at an angle.
Yes, it locks very well. Two things...there is a locking pin that has to be pulled out and reinserted to lock the head AND the plate under the ball has to be reversed so the flat not curved side is against the ball. We use the Kessler Pocket Jib with a C300 and 45 lbs counterweight without issue.
