Transcend TS16GDP100M overview

  • 1Description

Capture and save valuable video files with Transcend's DrivePro 100 Dash Camera. It utilizes a 3MP CMOS low-light sensitive image sensor to capture 1920 x 1080 video at 30fps, for playback to the on-board 2.4" color LCD screen or a computer. A built-in battery ensures uninterrupted recording and a built-in microphone can capture cabin audio. The mic can be disabled to protect passenger privacy or to conserve memory.

Recording begins automatically when the unit is turned on, and automatically over-writes the oldest unprotected files first. Video is saved to the SD slot that supports cards up to 128GB and a 16GB card is included. You can manually mark a file with over-write protection, and if an accident is detected, the file plus the thirty seconds immediately before and after the incident is automatically protected. If you want to capture supplemental video or still images to document scenic views or damage and injuries, the camera detaches from the removable suction-cup mount for handheld use.

    Transcend TS16GDP100M reviews

DrivePro 100 Dash Camera (Suction-Cup Mount) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very High Quality HD Video This camera produces very high quality HD video. The on camera menue is very easy to use and set up only takes a minute. It is very small so it can be easily tucked behind the rear view mirror. The wide angle of view appears larger than the 130 degrees stated in the specs. The shock sensor is a nice feature so it will save the video if you are in an accident or sudden stop. It also has a snapshot type mode so you can use it to take still pictures of an accident scene. The included cord could be a little longer for SUV's if you are trying to really hide the cord. Don't use any other cord because I had power issues with a different cord. Once I used the factory cord, it has worked flawlessly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice dash cam! Bought this dash cam a few weeks ago, & so far I'm very pleased with it's performance. My father thought it was cool, so I bought him one too, a week later. It seems to shoot really good looking video, & has proven to be more valuable than I originally thought. A cop bored pulled me over the other day, then changed his mind about why he pulled me over, once he saw my cam! Amazing! The only negative things I can possibly come up with, is the flashing red light which can be distracting, & the reflective shiny surfaces with white logo on the front, which don't help make the cam hide itself as it should. Also, the sensitivity for emergency recording is too sensitive & goes off quite often, but seems to be getting better each week as if it's adjusting to my car! If this can hold up to temperature extremes here in the midwest, & last several years, I will highly recommend it. This dash cam could potentially save anyone a lot of time, money, & grief in the long run. Get it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great budget Dashcam After reading several posts on reddit about dashcam evidence saving the day, I decided to get a basic dashcam to record my daily drive. I didn't want to spend a ton of money, but I also wanted to have quality footage. This camera seemed like a good compromise. I am very happy with it so far. When I get in my car and start the engine the camera kicks on and start recording. Once I have turned off the car the camera remains on for 10 seconds then automatically turns off. No issues so far and video looks good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good camera This is a very good dash camera. The results are clear. The camera itself is easy to use. The owners manual (pdf) is not great, but is sufficient. Nice that it comes with a 16gb micro SD card. My one complaint is that a tiny light on the back of the unit, in full view of the driver, flashes while it is recording (i.e. all the time) and I can't hide it behind the rear view mirror. I am going to try covering it with a piece of tape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost no setup needed, great price from I purchased four units for my family after a recent auto accident which ended up being a he-said-she-said nightmare. The packaging arrived in secure bubble wrapping from in the timeframe promised, and the product packaging itself looks professional and clean. The instructions were simple but more reassuringly, in correct English. (People who buy from online shopping sites are all too familiar with cheap products from vendors with poor grammar.) I was able to stick the units on the windshields and plug them in to start right out of the box. The only setup is to adjust the time. The included 16GB microSD and adapter are nice, though I switched out to 32GB. So far the units have worked well. I was somewhat annoyed by the small space reserved for Emergency recording files, which kick in due to the sensitive G-sensor to protect files in crashes. After it fills, you have to manually delete the protected files to remove the annoying message. I have now turned off the G-sensor as I figure the recording will on anyways when I am driving, and everything is otherwise great. The clip is also easy to detach quickly and reattach to the suction mount if you like to hide the camera or keep it away from the sun while parked.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works OK It was easy to install, but we need a longer wire to have it permanently connected to the 12v outlet without a constant power. Right now, we have wires in the way because of the cord being too short.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fine so far I've only had the camera a week, but it took about a minute to set up, and is easy to use. I've looked at one short video, and quality seems pretty good. The only downside is the cable, I have a car with a 12V socket that is on all the time, even when the car is switched off, so I'm getting a generic hardwire kit to wire it into the fuse box and hide the cable.
