MOBOTIX Q25M Overview

The white MX-Q25Mi-Basic-D12 Q25 720p Hemispheric Network Camera from MOBOTIX is a compact IP54-rated weather-proof camera featuring a 5MP day (color) sensor and a 12mm fisheye lens. However, the maximum resolution of the captured images and videos is limited to 1280 x 720 (720p). The high-sensitivity sensor captures color images of good quality even in low-light conditions.

When mounted on the ceiling, the camera is capable of providing full 360° view, or a 180° widescreen panorama when mounted on a wall. Thus, a single camera is needed to monitor an entire room up to all four corners. The fisheye distortion is automatically corrected by the integrated camera software in live view. The monitoring capabilities offered by this hemispheric camera not only reduce the number of required cameras, but also minimize system costs by reducing wiring complexity, emergency power requirements, and number of recording devices required.

Suitable for Discreet Installations
The camera is suitable for applications where a discreet design and an inconspicuous look are important. With the in-ceiling kit (available separately), the camera is suitable for use in hotels, restaurants, public buildings, waiting rooms, and showrooms.
Hemispheric Lens for a 360° View
When mounted on the ceiling, the camera is capable of providing a full 360° all-round view, or a 180° widescreen panorama when mounted on a wall.
Double Panorama
When the camera is mounted in the center of the ceiling in a room, the Double Panorama mode provides a corrected panorama image of both halves of the room.
Surround View (Quad View)
When ceiling mounted, the Surround mode replaces four cameras and shows 4 directions simultaneously on the monitor in a quad view. The preset North position can be moved to any direction in the image. The camera generates the other three directions (East, South, West) automatically and stores them as separate views. Each of the 4 views features a software-controlled pan/tilt/zoom function (virtual PTZ), allowing it to be customized as necessary.
Panoramic View
The hemispheric image (original full image) can be transformed into an ultra-wide angle panoramic view if the camera is mounted on a wall, providing a view of the room without any blind spots from wall to wall. It offers a substantially wide angle of view, thereby requiring fewer cameras to monitor a room and saving costs.
Panorama Focus
The hemispheric sensor module can also provide two additional views so that you can focus on two areas of the same frame simultaneously in addition to the panoramic view.
Reduced Wiring Complexity
The hemispheric camera provides a combined view offered by multiple standard cameras. It not only reduces the number of required cameras, but also minimizes system costs by reducing the wiring complexity, emergency power requirements, and number of recording devices required.
Good Image Quality
The color sensor captures images of good quality (at up to 720p resolution) even in bad weather and under low-light conditions. Thanks to its internal pre-processing of the image data, the camera can generate video streams with frame rates up to 30 fps.
MxLEO
MxLEO is an exposure and image optimization program that helps the camera reproduce perceptibly better and more detailed images especially under low-light conditions below 25 lux. It also reduces motion blur due to longer exposure times in low light and provides more image detail for effective identification of faces and license plates.
Virtual PTZ (vPTZ)
The vPTZ functions are integrated into the camera software. The image from the hemispheric camera can be enlarged using the mouse wheel, a joystick, or a software-controlled PTZ panel, and you can move the view to any section of the image. This provides the features of a mechanical PTZ camera without the disadvantages of maintenance and wear.
Simultaneous Corrected Live Image and Full Image Recording
The camera stores the entire image captured by the sensor (without virtual PTZ settings or image correction). When examining the recorded images, the virtual PTZ feature allows zooming into the visible image and use the pan/tilt features to examine every corner of the recorded full image.
Image Distortion Correction
The fisheye distortion is automatically corrected by the camera's built-in software. The PC doesn't bear this load as the image correction and generation of all desired image views take place in the camera itself.
Application-Oriented Image Transfer
The camera transmits only the desired image sections. Only a small part of the image is used, which reduces network usage.
Several Image Sections
One or more image sections can be corrected for perspective in the hemispheric view, allowing you to monitor and record several different areas of a room at the same time, something that a mechanical PTZ camera is not capable of doing.
Smooth High Resolution Video Streams
Since image streams of 16 fps and higher are perceived fluid by the human eye, the maximum frame rate is limited to 30 fps ( at 720p) in order to provide sufficient camera processing power for other tasks.
Conclusive Still Images
Thanks to the proprietary MxPEG video codec, the recording can be paused at any given point and still provide meaningful and useful snapshots due to the absence of distortion. This is essential for security applications and allows individuals or license plates to be identified.
Integrated Temperature Sensor
The integrated temperature sensor enables the camera to automatically trigger an alarm if the operating temperature is not within the optimal range.
Backlight-Proof for High Contrast Scenarios
The camera is not adversely affected by the glare from direct sunlight. The firmware with independent exposure settings helps the camera capture detailed images even in rooms with large glass fronts.
