Teac TN-300 overview

  • 1Description

The black TN-300 from Teac is a 2-speed analog turntable with a built-in MM phono equalizer and USB output. Switchable between phono and line levels, the analog output allows the unit to be connected to a receiver or amplifier with no phono inputs. The USB output digitizes your vinyl records to either a Mac or PC for archiving or playing on your favorite mobile device.

The construction of the TN-300 features a heavy-duty MDF enclosure that minimizes unfavorable resonances, while the high inertia aluminum die-cast platter is belt-driven by a high torque DC motor with durable neoprene rubber for stable, accurate rotations. The static balanced straight-type tonearm was chosen for high tracking accuracy and the included Audio-Technica VM-type cartridge provides professional quality sound with clarity and detail. The TN-300 ships with a 45 adapter, a counter weight, a head-shell, a dust-cover, an RCA audio cable, a USB cable, and an AC adapter.

    Teac TN-300 reviews

TN-300 Turntable with Phono EQ and USB (Black) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great turntable I got this turntable in order to listen to records I haven't listened to in years. I love it. I use it as an old school turntable and haven't tried the USB out. It was super simple to set upI just plugged it into my receiver and it worked great out of the box. Very happy. I got it in red because red was $ cheaper, I don't know why that is the case. I would have preferred a different color, but for $ I was happy to settle. The only negative is that it is 100% manual. The arm has to be returned manually when the record finishes. That means I can't doze off when listening to records, but not a big deal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good, BUT..... Purchased to start enjoying vinyl again. Loved the design. the plinth is, indeed, beautiful. Played it for about 4 hours and the speed started changing- speeding up and slowing down. In researching the issue on the internet, I found out it's a known issue. Apparently a bad drive motor along poor quality control from the TEAC factory. Up until the malfunction, it played and sounded great. B&H, of course, replaced it right away. Just received notification that it is waiting for me at home. We'll see if the second time around is the charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful table-Well built Wow. This thing looks great in real life! The pictures on the web don't really do it justice. The sound is also excellent (this uses a standard grade Audio Technica cartridge which is huge upgrade from the Crosley turntable that I was using). I was looking at the ProJect turntables as well, but decided to go with this based on other reviews (rather buy from B&H though...Much better service!). I am relatively new to Vinyl, but I can definitely tell the difference between a cheap turntable and a good one, and this one really stands out. The tone arm is aluminum and the build quality is top notch. I am using the built-in pre-amps as I have powered speakers, and it works great. I have not used the USB out to archive to my computer yet, but I can see using that feature as well. Very happy so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Turntable - Great For Converting Vinyl I got this turntable solely for transferring my vinyl lp record collection to my computer. It is ideal for the job. The turntable connects via a usb port. My records sound fantastic. I am using a program called VinylStudio. I strongly recommend it. It makes everything easy. It is very inexpensive and it saves time and energy when compared to Audacity or anything else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A VERY GOOD TURNTABLE. I used some turntables when I was a young man 30 years ago. This turntable is easy to assemble and use. The most important is that you should be careful to balance among the tone arm , anti-skating dial and stylus pressure. I suggest that the stylus pressure 1.5 gm should be good enough ,but anti-skating sometimes need more. Maybe you need adjust this balance depending on various records. Using the cue lever should be meticulous with your fingers to prevent falling down too fast.(It will damage your record). If your receiver or amplifier have phono inputs, never use other input such as CD or Audio In (for DVD or other devices). The quality of sound is much better from phono inputs. If you want to have better quality ,you may change the cartridge. How about try Shure 97 NXE. Only the inconvenience is that the turnable can't lift up automatically after it finishes playing the record.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I got this to turntable for the sole purpose of recording my albums to MP3's for digital use. So far so good. It works well, sound is great, and used in conjunction with VinylStudio makes for a great recording studio. Very happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Simple Turntable I'm not an audiophile by any means, but just someone who grew up listening to records and wants to get back into it again. This is a very stylish, nice quality turntable. The finish (cherry) is gorgeous! The hardware is very solid. I used to have TEAC reel-to-reel tape decks back in the '70s and '80s so I was already familiar with the high quality work from this company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TN-300 a perfect synergy of design and function. Right out of the box set up is a snap.Instructions are easy to follow with clear diagrams in 15 minutes your ready to go. Teac has thought of every detail right down to miniature rubber feet for the front edge of the dust cover. I've been around HiFi audio for 50+ years. Owned lots of different equipment and this product gets the job done beautifully. Fidelity is outstanding at this price point. The cue lever has a somewhat abrupt pickup but the stylus set down is as smooth as they come. All the features associated with high quality turntables are there in the tone arm. I found the speed to be perfect on the platter even in the absence of any adjustment. This I believe due to the 12 volt operation of the motor. Yes this is powered by a wall wart and not direct 110 volt as with vintage equipment. A superior modern electric motor powers this. Pitch was extremely stable and absence of any motor vibration provide playback that rivals machines that cost much more. Now for the best part. Teac has designed a product for the people who become accustomed to the elegant design ethos that Apple has brought to us. The designers careful attention to our visual perception of this machine is beyond category. Clean lines and thoughtful elegant controls all make for a personal experience like no other. There it sits, spinning your favorite vinyl as a pleasing visual experience as well. I found myself just staring in amazement at this gorgeous product. Hats off to TEAC for bringing such a beautiful audio component into our homes. Spread the love...turn off the TV and play some music at home.
