It installs easily without tools or modifications to the scope by simply screwing it to the filter thread. This design allows you to instantly raise and lower the cap and since it's tethered to the housing, you won't have to worry about losing it. There is a second thread on the cap housing to mount lens filters.

No more lens cap gymnastics. Where oh where??,etc. Not cheap, but sure do not miss where is the CAP??? Factor the years of use, sans the eternal hunt and it'll be worth it, if you use the scope. Usual Ostreich overkill quality , so you do get something for the dough.
