Moab F01-JBR305172225 reviews

Juniper Baryta Rag 305 Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gallery Quality Paper Great paper. It's not cheap (although it costs less than other equivalent brands) but - it is very good. My wife and I printed many prints on it and the really poppe . We belong to a camera club (PWWCC) in NYS and everybody loves our prints. Of course, you have to print the right picture on the right paper. This is a matte paper that is especially good for B&W pictures and (what my wife likes) IR (infrared) photos. They look great on this papers. However, the color look good too. What I suggest is to buy a 8.5' x 11 first and test it. If you like it ... buy the big size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Way Too Flimsy For 305GSM My photograph printed beautifully, but I have concerns with the sturdiness of this paper. The package arrived and it looked like the box was already cut open. Inside a was a sealed clear bag of what I assume to be Moab Juniper Baryta, though I wonder if someone purchased this, placed some cheaper paper inside, and returned it to BHPhotoVideo. For 305GSM, this is incredibly flimsy. Print quality is lovely but it doesn't have that robust feeling that Ilford Galerie Prestige Gold Fibre Silk has at 310GSM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my favorite paper for everything I love this paper. It reminds me of the fibre-based b/w paper I printed on years ago. I was just using Juniper for portraits. I then printed a scenic and compared it to the same image printed on another paper. I was amazed at the range of tone and subtle color nuances of the Juniper. It far surpassed the other paper, in my opinion. Juniper will be the only paper I will likely use for everything from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Go To Paper I have long preferred Baryta paper for my prints (95% are B&W). I have tried Baryta papers from many manufacturers and Moab Juniper is by far the best. You only need to hold a print in your hands and feel the wonderful texture of the paper to recognize the difference. Juniper feel reminds me of Moab Entrada (my go to matte finish paper) with a baryta coating. In short, a wonderful paper for my prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An essential paper in my studio This is one of the really interesting papers I use periodically. The color of the stock and the image tone make it somewhat of a match to Ilford Multigrade Warm Tone FB in the darkroom. Its surface also approaches some of the qualities of excellent enlarging papers of the past. It accepts a lot of ink, so colors can be made very intense. I find that I need to introduce an added curve in addition to either my own profile or the manufacturer's profile, which is somewhat unexpected in a high-quality paper, so there's something in my printer (Canon iPF8100) or workflow I can't explain. I see no reason why Moab shouldn't produce, in addition to Juniper, the same paper with a more neutral paper base, and I would be delighted to see the surface texture made just a little finer, but these are minor points. Everyone should give this paper a try, and some will probably find it as invaluable as I do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Back ordered paper. I love Moab paper, especially the large cut sheets, but since this was backordered I wasn't able to use it for my BFA Thesis.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love it! Hate it! I have a real love/hate relationship with this paper. Over the years I have developed a real affinity for baryta papers and have tried many kinds. I believe Moab Juniper is definitely the best. The prints are beautiful. The paper has a feel, a heft to it... not floppy. And the texture is exquisite... kind of like Entrada with a baryta coating. This is due to the paper being cotton rag instead of alpha cellulose as most of the other baryta papers are. The result is a print that I love to pick up and hold in my hands as well as hang on the wall. BUT... there are what only can be described as quality control issues. They only seem to affect Juniper. (I haven't seen it with Entrada at all). And it has been going on for quite a while. I have spoken to Moab several times and can't believe I am the only one to see this. It is common for me to find sheets (maybe one or two, once over half the box) where there are black flecks in the surface of the paper. I have seen this in boxes of 8.5 x 11; 13 x 19 and 17 x 22 as well as 17 and 24 rolls. And who wants a small black fleck in the middle of a print. And it's even worse if the fleck appears in the white margin surrounding the image. To be fair, Moab has been responsive and have even replaced sheets on a couple of occasions. But I would rather they fix the problem.
