Canon CS100 overview

  • 1Description

Enabling wireless backing up of image and video files from Canon cameras and camcorders, the Connect Station CS100 is a media hub designed for storing, managing, and viewing your multimedia content. Featuring a built-in 1TB drive, this storage device is able to back-up approximately 150,000 photos or 70 hours of video from your camera, with the convenience of syncing your device via NFC or over Wi-Fi. Once the content has been loaded into the CS100, you can browse, manage, sort, and view your files using an intuitive menu system. Playback is supported via HDMI. Wireless printing is possible to compatible PIXMA/SELPHY printers, and imagery can be downloaded to PCs or smart devices via a web browser. The CS100 offers both convenience and practicality in how to import, view, and export your imagery.

The built-in 1TB of storage is able to hold approximately 150,000 photos or approximately 70 hours of video.
NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity allow you to simply tap your NFC-enabled Canon camera to the device in order to automatically transfer photos and movies over Wi-Fi. For cameras without built-in Wi-Fi or NFC, a USB 2.0 port and both CF and SD card slots are also available for importing content.
For large-scale playback on an HDTV or monitor, an HDMI out port can be used to preview your imagery. The photos' full resolution is maintained during playback as well as the smooth playback from high bitrate video formats. Additionally, the included remote control (CS-RC1) permits simple, wireless control over playback and file navigation.
Files are automatically sorted by date (month/year) or by the specific shooting device. For further refinement, an easy-to-navigate menu structure allows you to create albums for more personalized sorting.
Wireless printing is supported from the CS100, which is fully compatible with PictBridge and wireless LAN-enabled PIXMA, SELPHY, or other compatible printers.
Accessible via a web browser on smartphones, tablets, or PCs, the contents of the CS100 can also be viewed or downloaded to other devices. Furthermore, imagery can be imported from smart devices, and compatible Android devices will automatically connect without the need to manually launch the web browser interface.
Seamless and wireless file transferring between two Connect Stations is possible, as well as the ability to share directly to social networks via the Canon iMAGE GATEWAY.
The following file formats are supported by the CS100:
  • Photo: JPEG, CR2
  • Video: MP4, MOV, AVCHD
The contents of the CS100 can securely be offloaded to another external hard drive via USB connection for backing up your photo and video library.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would not recommend I would not recommend. I love CANON STUFF but not this. I have over 35.000 digital print i want tp move tp.the connect from an exterior hard drive and it can not be done. You can tranfer from you phone at 6 pictures at a time. I good for viewing photos on TV. My connect came in Chinese. Had to find somreone who spoke Chinese to change the setting to English.good for unloading photos from cards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointment Product seems to work well, but I was hoping to use it as a backup system for when I'm out on shoots. It is not meant for moving around and is a large piece of equipment that requires being plugged in. This basically just works as an external drive that allows you to pull photos off the card through wifi, which seems to be the only difference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun product especially when bought in a bundle This is a fun product that allows you to view your photos on a big screen TV. A built in 1TB drive gives you additional backup security. You can organize your photos into albums or view through thumbnails. It's easy to set up and use. It uses NFC to import photos but it also has an SD and CF card reader built in for cameras that don't have built-in NFC. My only criticism is that the fan runs constantly while the unit is on or on standby. However, you can turn the unit off when not in use. Overall a good product to have especially if you can get it at a discount as a part of package deal

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dissapointed I purchased the cs100 bundled with my camera at a discount price. Well, first, I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why the cs100 couldn't read the photos (jpeg's) from my sdcard. So, finally figured out that they need to be stored within the DCIM folder. Fair enough. The intention of purchasing this device was because I thought it was a good idea to copy my entire collection of .jpeg photos exported from Lightroom (5 then 6) and watch them in the TV in family. Well, the cs100 (fw upgraded to 1.20) only reads the .cr2 and jpeg's files generated directly by a Canon camera, but not other jpeg's. So, unless there's a workaround, the device is useless for me. Jpeg's files exported from Lightroom display only a question mark in the file but don't show the image. All metadata was exported with the files, except person info and location.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Canon product I ever had Download time too long. Freeze frequently. Start button keep flushing red when you start, ask you to restart again which is annoying. Recommend to canon: 1)Make the download faster. 2) More option to customize such as adding caption 3)More option to create and organize your file 4)Option to transfer to other network I will not recommend this to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Only comment is the wireless connectivity.... Not backward compatible or should I say only compatible with canon 2015 printers.... Maybe a firmware update can help this

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Best way for you to organize and store your pictures Connect Station CS100 1TB Storage Device is your best solution to sort, organize, and also store your picture. The good thing about it is that you do not only have an easy way to connect and backup your precious moments taken by your Canon cameras but also you can use the SD and CF memory readers on the station front to backup your pictures and videos taken by any other sort of cameras. It also has a very simple and easy user interface which displays your photos. The media player within is very easy to use also to run your videos and see your photos in a beautiful slide show. The only point that can be taken against is the slow transfer rate if you use the NFC feature but you can always, if you are in a hurry, insert your media directly through SD, CF, or USB ports available. And that is why I gave it 4/5 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from By Far the worst Canon product yet! Thought it could be used as an external storage device and quick interface to up load photos, turned out to be snail pace slow even when uploading directly from a CF or SD card. For whatever the reason, you can't connect it to your computer to access the photos or videos and if you export it to an external HD, your computer will not recognize the HD anymore (But the Canon Connect Station will) Just like the Canon rebates, don't get your hopes up. You'll end up spending more time figuring out what they could have possibly thought when designing this than all the time you'll save put together. In the age of iPhones and Apple TVs, this devise is for people who are not able to use computers, don't have USB cords, or have too much room in their house. Bought it as a bundle for $50 more, not even worth that. Too bad.....
