Samyang 135mm f/2.0 ED Reviews

Excellent Value Manual Ficus Lens

I own several manual focus lenses and have been using manual focus for over 50 years. I give this lens five stars in terms of value and image quality. The only negative surprise for me. Is that moving the lens focus ring on does not automatically trigger focus magnification on my Sony camera bodies. All my other e-mount manual focus lenses do automatically trigger focus magnification. I’ve overcome this by programming it to one of the custom function buttons on the camera. Great manual focus lens if you don’t mind, the minor inconvenience of no automatic focus magnification..

Solid economy lens!

When I originally got my X-Pro3, I also got Fuji's 16-55mm f/2.8 and 50-140mm f/2.8... but then I started to missing prime shooting... so acquired TTArtisan's 17mm f/1.4 and 35mm f/1.4, then Laowa's awesome 65mm /f2.8 and 9mm f/2.8, and was happy with my setup Then, impulsively, decided to round out my lens with a fast telephoto, so grabbed this Samyang 135 f/2.0... and for it's very economical price, I was surprised by it's solid heft, it weighs more than Fuji's 50-140mm... but, also is a full stop faster too. So far, only have been able to sparsely shoot with it, but doing so was nice, smooth focusing, and the results were very good, with sharp images, with very minimal softness, and no vignetting at all, shooting wide open. The only thing I would knock it for, is something I didn't think of prior, and until I had it, and that is the lack of a tripod collar... especially for it's heft, it would be nice to have that. Otherwise, cannot beat the lens and it's price!
