Savage LED2000K overview

  • 1Description

This 2000W Location LED Light Kit from Savage is ideal for in-home and on-location video shoots, interviews, photo sessions and more. The kit contains 2 daylight-balanced LED studio lights with a high CRI rating of 95+, 8' light stands, reflectors, power cords and lamp protectors. A carry bag with a shoulder strap is also included to store and transport it all.

Each of the two cool running LED lights produce the equivalent of 1000 watts of incandescent light (13,000 lumens) when used with the included reflectors, while consuming only 100W of power. The LEDs have a long life expectancy of 50,000 hours.

Attributes

  • LED technology allows the user to vary power from the lowest to the highest light output with only minimal fluctuations in Kelvin temperature: (+/- 200K)

    Savage LED2000K reviews

2000W Location LED Light Kit is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Get rid of the noise. Get rid of the noise, replace the fan. The fan is located at the back of the LED lamp, so just open the unit by the front (3 screws to remove the Bowen mount, 1 screw to get the LED lamp). Purchase a low-noise fan 80x80mm by 25mm thickness, 12 volt, at least 1400 RPM. The fan should blow air into the LED aluminum base. Good luck!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bright, but noisy These are wonderfully bright lights, seem well made, and package up nicely but the fans on them are noisy and the stands are, as expected, cheap junk, one broke on the first use. But I didn't buy them for the stands. The real issue is the fan noise which I did find that I can pull out from the audio track, but it does deaden the voice a bit. I would not recommend these for video production where voice is being recorded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed the noisey, still bright I wrote the "Bright but Noisy" review and was about to sell these lights to get a pair of Dracast Kala 2000 when I found the review here about replacing the fans with quieter ones. I did some research and settled on the Silenx EFX fan, 80x80x25mm and am beyond pleased, call it amazed, at how quiet these lights now are. The fans are good at passing air, too. I ran a 1 hour test of having a lightbox on the light (with exhaust ports open) and put a thermometer right on top of the point where the LED actually is. In an 80 degree room the temp hit 92 degrees. No worries there. If you do this modification, there are three wires coming out of the fan and only two into the board on the light. The center wire is positive and the other wire that goes around to the counterclockwise side of rotation is the negative. The wire that goes clockwise around and in is the tachometer and not needed for this purpose. You will need to splice these wires to the OEM wires as the fitting is not the same on the board and the new fan. Silence (or should I say Silenx, is golden! Now totally appoved for audio recording situations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Light, Bad Tripod This light is used to illuminate the speaker and to remove shadows so we can create a good video. The light itself is very bright and it has a control knob where you can adjust the brightness. There is also a place where you can attach an umbrella and the overall weight is minimal. The tripod that comes with the lighting kit is very cheap, a better description would be worthless. After using it three times the plastic knob that tightens the tripod legs stripped out so we are unable to stabilize the tripod. I purchased another tripod from another place because I felt that CS should of given me the option of a better tripod. I have purchased a large amount from B&H because their CS is better than most.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Amazing Kit I,ve had this kit now for about a week. Pro's:This was tested at 10 feet from subject indoors. At full-power the light was very harsh, turning the power down give a nice even light on the subject, moving the lights vertically move the shadow on the vertical axis nicely. moving the light stand on the horizontal move the shadow on the horizontal axis, these are some powerful lights at 10 feet. Con's : The aluminum cone's are easyly bent or warped. If you don't want to use strob lights these are perfect to use with an analog light meter for ambient light readings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not without faults, but still worth the money. I primarily use these lights for studio portraiture. Having said that, I don't think that there are really any location oriented features to this kit apart from the bag (which is not especially sturdy or easy to pack. I also have to say that the stands are absolutely terrible. I would recommend getting a pair of higher quality stands if you'd rather keep the lights in one piece. Despite these downsides, the light heads alone are worth the money to me.
