Celestron SkyMaster Pro 15x70 Overview

Designed as an ideal optic for wide-view astronomical or long-range terrestrial observation, the Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Pro Binoculars feature a proprietary XLT multicoating system to reduce reflection and increase light transmission through the entire optical system. The porro prism configuration provides a rich depth of view and high contrast to draw users into an immersive observational experience. The combination of optical coatings, prism, and oversized 70mm objectives produces high-contrast views that are bright and crisp with accurate color fidelity.

To help reduce weight, the binoculars' housing is made from a combination of polycarbonate polymer and aluminum. The aluminum provides strength in key areas, while the polycarbonate is temperature resistant to limit expansion and contraction in extreme temperatures, which can cause the optical components to move out of collimation and prevent the ability to achieve sharp focus. Large objectives and long optical tubes make the SkyMaster Pro binoculars fairly heavy with a center of gravity biased forward, so hand-holding may cause fatigue and noticeable hand shake. A tripod adapter is incuded, with a detachable rail for a red-dot finderscope. To handle a wide range of environments, the optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be fog and waterproof.

Celestron SkyMaster Pro 15x70 Reviews

Great alternative to Telescope

I've owned 2 SCTs. A 5 &8 Evolution. Beautiful units but a royal pain. Be it known to anyone thinking you're going to buy a telescope and see views like what are shown on the internet. Not going to happen. Better buy a used Hubble. The 5 would track so you were always trying to keep up. The 8 was awesome for locking on and tracking but those beautiful brilliant pictures of galaxies and cluster just weren't there. Plus lugging around an 8 Evolution ..forget it. Both the 5 and 8 in h SCT were great for the moon. Decent for other planets too. But that was it. So I switch to these Celestron Skymaster 15x70 Pro Binoculars. Wow. Got a decent tripod and I am having a blast. Easy setup. Easy carting this around. Great FOV. Crisp sharp images. And can still see Jupiters moons, Saturns rings plus clusters. Plus I can watch the birds and wildlife. Ok. They work for me....maybe not for you. My advice is this. Before you spent $800-$3000 on a good telescope go to a local Astronomy Clubs meeting and get a first hand real world experience of what a backyard telescope can see. You may just save yourself a lot of $$$ and be just as happy as I am with these Celestron Skymaster 15x70 Pro Binoculars.

Great views

Very well built and the views are sharp and very contrasty. Very little CA when viewing the moon which is a big plus. Overall, these are a keeper.
