Pentax UP 8x25 WP Overview

Pentax's highly portable and functional 8x25 U-Series UP WP Compact Binoculars employs an innovative unibody design that locks the objective lenses into the body with the eyepieces set on a synchronized dual-axis mechanism that ensures they stay symmetrical in relation to the center axis of the optic when adjusting the interpupillary distance. The 25mm objective lenses are fully multicoated to reduce reflection and maximize light transmission to produce the brightest images possible. Aspherical lens elements virtually eliminate distortion, especially around the edges, and corrects for lens astigmatism which can prevent sharp focusing.

Designed for easy carrying and stowing, the binocular features a lightweight fiberglass reinforced polycarbonate housing that is corrosion and impact resistant. The housing material is also temperature-resistant allowing for its use in extreme climates while reducing expansion and contraction wide temperature variations can cause, which can make the optical components move out of collimation over time. Its optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed so they can are submersible to 3.3', as well as fogproof in all weather conditions.

Pentax UP 8x25 WP Reviews

Wow! These were a nice surprise!

I lost my work truck's Brookstone binoc's to a break in. My replacement binoc's became my Dad's old Minolta pocket 7x21's which I thought were pretty good... I wanted to give his back and not super knowledgeably on binoculars found these to consider at B&H as a replacement. I've bought from B&H before and know they sell quality items and know stuff. I'm use to twin tubes but these are quite comfortable to handle, focus, adjusting the diopter and have adjustable eyepiece rings, great if wearing safety glasses. But the important part is the view...Wow! The viewing difference between my old Brookstone's and Dad's Minolta's was like going from horse carriage to the automobile. This Pentax pair to me is like your car now has air conditioning, power steering, power windows and all the nice things that make you smile. If you want a good solid workhorse pair of binocular that let you see things you should be seeing, you won't be disappointed, even in a surprisingly comfortable but odd appearance, but when look through them, you'll see why.

Unique and perhaps necessary

When on sale I buy these for gifts. The AD WP double hinge roof is a next solid choice and is my compact take always with better ER at 21. These however are a Time Capsule being reverse porro with what I find a Kool design, decent fov and unique push in/out right eye dopler adjustment. Waterproof too. To experience a compact Porro at this price is pretty amazing considering the inferior 100$ choices flooding amazon.com. Pentax Ricoh really do make incredible under 300 $ products. I've seen reviews of people preferring it to the Nikon reverse porro competition as well. The Pentax Ricoh Papilio 2 6.5x21 is also another example of what Pentax Ricoh can achieve and I think this is a great achiever as well.
