    Zacuto Z-VCTTP reviews

VCT Tripod Plate is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must-have with your Zacuto Recoil rig. Immediately after I bought my Zacuto Recoil rig for my Red Scarlet, I had to buy this as well. There's no sort of quickplate attaching the camera to your rig, so if you want to move your whole camera rig quickly and easily from shoulder to tripod, you need this plate. It's quite large, and takes way more force to connect your rig to the plate than you would expect. So much force in fact that it takes a few tries, and makes me a little nervous about my tripod head tilting down and knocking it out of my hand. But maybe that's user error. I just wish it connected more easily and safely. Still, it's a necessary accessory for your Zacuto Recoil rig.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only for Zacuto As another reviewer noted (unfortunately after I ordered mine) this plate is only compatible with Zacuto rigs. The reason for this is frustratingly-simple: the trigger (i.e. small piece of metal that, when pushed forward, engages the locking bolt) is too short for the VCT standard. As a result, when you mount a non-Zacuto rig, it will not push the trigger far-enough forward to engage the locking mechanism. I don't know why Zacuto chose to not to fully implement the standard ... very frustrating and ratherdisingenuous to market this product as a VCT plate. (I noticed that B&H recently removed the -14 from the product name so that it is now just a VCT plate. However, the product description still says Adapts Standard Tripod to VCT-14 which is not true. It should read Zacuto VCT Plates Only.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard to Use Using this plate to attach the VCT Universal Baseplate by Zacuto. Disappointed to say the least. It takes about ten tries to slam the vct baseplate with my camera on to the vct tripod plate. I've shot with betacams in the past, and cameras will latch on to the vct tripod plate with no problem. This one seems like there's something blocking it from latching in. It will latch eventually...but ten tries? Still don't trust it when it's latched. Talked to Zacuto and they sent me a video on how to use it properly...thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Necessary accessory There's not much to this product but if you have a recoil shoulder rig you have to get this. You don't want to put a very expensive camera on a very expensive should rig on the floor. This will allow you to quickly put it on and off a tripod. This is handy for working alone or with minimal crew. So you can set up your rig then put it on your tripod and finish setting up lights or misc etc. Also if you have a break in shooting and don't want to take apart your rig you can safely place it on a tripod. Just make sure you're using a good tripod that can handle the weight. A camera, should rig and this plate adds some weight and you don't want your tripod head to start tilting down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only works with Zacuto products Only four stars because while it does work perfectly with my Zacuto Universal Baseplate it will not work at all with the VCT built onto the URSA, so if I want to mount my camera I have to make sure the baseplate is on. It's also $ more than the tried and true Sony version which does work with both the URSA and the Universal Baseplate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Own No one makes better add-on cinema gear than Zacuto. This is a must own if you use the universal base plate with any camera. I use it with my Sony FS-7 recoil rig and wouldn't show up on a shoot without being able to mount and release the rig on a tripod in a second when you are running and gunning.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not all metal Compared to other VCT / Broadcast plates. This has a plastic safety latch (red lever) which over time will come loose and break off. The plate still functions even if broken off, and easily repaired with a screw. But at this price point, and for Zacuto, this is not the quality I was expecting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great accessory Works great, fits easily onto the zacuto rig. Works well to balance out small vs large lenses. A nesscary item since the VCT1 rig does not balance on a tripod as its built in baseplate mount is all the way forward. This fixes the issue, only wish it was packaged with the rig.
