Core SWX DV-GP4-USBC overview

  • 1Description

The Core SWX DV-GP4-USBC is a power extension cable that lets you power your GoPro HERO4 from a USB power source. It comes with a clear backdoor that attaches to the rear of the camera's Standard Housing and provides rain and splash resistance (but it's not submersible). The backdoor does not prevent visibility of the rear LCD of the HERO4 Silver Edition.

On the camera end, the cable locks into the bus connector on the back of the camera instead of into the camera's USB port, providing for a more reliable connection, highly beneficial in high impact applications. Another benefit of this power solution is that no heat is generated, since what's being used is simply a cable and not a battery, and this reduces the chance of overheating the camera. The cable is 10 ft long.

Although the HERO3 uses the same bus connector, this Battery Eliminator is only compatible with the HERO4.

    Core SWX DV-GP4-USBC reviews

Battery Eliminator USB with Backdoor for GoPro HERO4 (10 ft) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheaply manufactured The eliminator works as suggested although i have only tried it without the battery inserted in the GoPro Hero 4 Silver. The backdoor fitted as expected although required a lot of force to close the clasp into place. The plug assembly cable between the converter and the camera is too short and allows little play. I could not connect the cable to the camera with the camera inside its original housing. I had to free the power converter inside the switronix camera back by slicing through the glue that holds it to the case. This allowed enough play to get it to connect to the camera. The connector would easily break if not carefully handled. Overall it is a good solution but very poorly executed and overpriced for the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative! I'm recording my son's travellball games w a gopro hero4 silver. I didn't want to keep switching batteries. I used a USB battery pack, this switchtronix battery eliminator, and a LynkSpyder mount to fix the gopro to the backstop. This setup worked great! I used the gopro remote wrist strap to hold the battery pack to the LynkSpyder adapter ($10 add-on).. I sat in the stands and discretely recorded games. Product also works great in drizzle, but I wouldn't submerge the gopro..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good so far! These backs have been good so far. I say so far because I currently have 4 of them running 4 HERO Blacks set up for outdoor time lapse. They have been running for 11 days straight... and still going. So we shall see. They made it thru thunder, lightning, and some crazy rain! OK so far. As mentioned in many reviews, the only design flaw is the super short power cord inside the back that makes installing the back on the camera a bit of an unnecessary (and easily fixed!) pain in the nuts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Works well with no battery. However the connector is really hard to connect to the camera. I would suggest making a bit longer cable inside the cover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again again and again I plugged one end of Battery Eliminator USB cable into my Hero4 at home and started walking toward downtown with the other end, 30 minutes later I arrived at Whole Foods where I was able to plug it into free fuel efficient charging station. It really worked out despite cable being 1000 feet long!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Product. We really liked the long power cord a lot and the water-proof features. The back plate might be a bit bulky and there is a little transformer glued on the back that we had to remove in order to close the unit properly. otherwise no complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works exactly as it should I use my gopro as a really cheap c camera during interviews. Without constant power it was a real pain. The fact that this is not just the adapter but came with a new back to the gopro housing made it a great option for simplifying the setup.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke second time I used it The cable just broke. I was really excited about using this for time lapses - then it just broke. Just like that. I'm hoping to be able to get it repaired.
