The Core SWX DV-GP4-USB is a power extension cable that lets you power your GoPro HERO4 from a USB power source. On the camera end, it locks into the bus connector on the back of the camera instead of into the camera's USB port, providing for a more reliable connection, highly beneficial in high impact applications. Another benefit is that no heat is generated, since what's being used is simply a cable and not a battery, and this reduces the chance of overheating the camera. The cable is 10 ft long.

Although the HERO3 uses the same bus connector, this Battery Eliminator is only compatible with the HERO4.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buyer beware. I bought 7 of these for my 360 rig. I was so excited when these arrived but I hadn't finished designing my 360 VR rig which uses 7 gopro hero 4 cameras so I didn't get to use them until a month after they had arrived. One was DOA and didn't work at all. One was very cheaply made and the mettel part you plug into the go pro came out of the plastic part and the wire disconnected. One had a very short distance between the connector and the little rectangle which limited how much you can bend it and arrange it inside of the rig. The others had a good 4 inches of spaces in between... I learned my lesson and will always check if cables work when they arrive. I'm assuming the reason everyone is out of stock is the company is going back to the drawing board.. They defiantly should be. They are very very cheaply made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Perfectly. We used our GoPro as a live video source during a two-day corporate event. Once we had the camera up, we just forgot about it and left it on. It stayed up and going for two days without issue. But one thing, I believe there's a backdoor accessory for this. Probably a good idea to buy it. I didn't, because I had a stock open Go-Pro backdoor, but the left side of it covers the slot where the power adapter goes into the camera. I had to saw the left side of the door off - so that the adapter would fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for long car rides! I did a 2 hour time lapse from Tokyo to Nokogiriyama and made an AWESOME vid with my GoPro. Zero problems. Just TAKE THE BATTERY OUT FIRST. It only works with the battery removed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eliminates overheating Pros: Allows for the use of an external power source that enables your GoPro to record video seemingly indefinitely, limited only by your external battery/source and card space. Before using this cord, recording at 4K would overheat the camera after about 40-50 minutes of use with the go pro battery pac or internal battery. Cons: Forces you to buy new housing if you don't have a simple frame style, though can be gotten for a low low price here on B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Little Cable... No Instructions, Though! If you're reading this and you have this cable, FIRST, take out your battery. This is a BATTERY ELIMINATOR. If your battery is plugged in it won't show it being charged. Took me about 5 mins to realize this. I just saved you 5 minutes, you're welcome, earth. I did a time lapse for over 3 hours and not a fraction of heat more than it usually gets when taking a long time lapse. Great product. Just remember to take the battery out first!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as well as expected Combine this with a GoPro frame mount, Joby Gorillapod, and USB power source, and you have a great camera to hide behind monitors on-stage during concerts and dance recitals. For USB power sources, I use the Poweradd Pilot X1 5200mAh. I've run the GoPro for 3 hours continuously with this power source, and the Poweradd showed less than 50% reduction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Passed the 5 hour test!! I went back and forth on whether or not to purchase these due to the good reviews in some places and not so good in other places. But I didn't have much of a choice and I wanted to try to bypass the batteries if at all possible. I used two GoPro 4 Silvers to cover a 5 hour event and I actually left the battery in one camera and took the other battery out. They both worked flawlessly for the entire time and I came away impressed with these special power cords. So I'd say you've got a great shot at longform recording with these units! Technical note: I set the GoPros to 720p30p, one wide, one medium, using SanDisk Extreme 64GB microSDXC UHS-I cards. The recordable time showed as 5:56:41 (5 hours, 56 minutes, 41 seconds) I researched using 128 GB cards but I didn't find enough evidence to support reliable usage. I ended up recording just over 5 hours of content and I'm using PluralEyes (from Red Giant) to sync them together. It all works pretty well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Timelapse After having a battery backpack shut down in the middle of a time-lapse I decided to look for a solution. This is it! I run the USB port on my Paul C Buff Vagabond battery which is super light and it only dropped one level indicator after an eight hour shoot! Plenty of other power alternatives using any powered USB port.
