it's a very simple umbrella, is usable and if you treat it with care I'm sure it will last for a while... just don't squeeze the tube too much when you put it in the bracket because it's quite soft and thin.

How many inches long is the umbrella when folded?

Unfortunately, Savage does not list the length of the Savage Translucent Umbrella (36 ) when folded. The best I can list is the packaging dimensions for the umbrella are listed as 30.0 x 3.0 x 1.5 , so I would guess the umbrella is slightly shorter than 30 inches when folded closed.
