For the B+W #960 metal lens hood, what is the inside diameter (in mm) of the front section (most of the hood) for the 67mm and 72mm versions? (I want to know the clearance so that I can store it "reversed" though not attached on the front of my lens, wrapped in very thin cloth, in a camera bag.)
The front of the B+W 67mm Screw-In Metal Telephoto Lens Hood #960 is also 67mm. It is not reverse mountable.

If the lens has 77mmm threads it will certainly fit.
The question of whether it will vignette will require mounting it on the lens will depend on the lens. Mine is on a GF Fuji 80 mm and it does not.
A 70 is a bit wider. Buy the hood and screw it on. If it vignettes you can easily return it
