    LumiQuest LQ-122S reviews

Quik Bounce with UltraStrap is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Love my Quik Bounce. Better than most of the competition. It bounces well when used at 100%, and the opening helps with a sort-of 80-20 effect when the doors are open. It changes quickly from vertical to horizontal. I use an additional piece of black velcro around the three attachment points-it makes the unit more secure and cost only pennies. My only real negative is the two doors. It is a two-hand job to open them and get them to stick out of the way for the 20% shots. I would prefer one door. In fact, I wrote the company and suggested this, and they responded that several others had a similar request and they they were looking at it. And as to the first reviewer, no, I would not bet that it works well in extreme cold, but most of us don't live where it gets to -8 F. Most plastics don't like sub-zero temperatures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job! We now have two of these, one for each camera. We use it for events like weddings and parties. Nice that I can do an 80/20 bounce without using a flash bracket. Can be used with or without a ceiling to bounce off. My only gripe is that the velcro mount (which I attached to Honl Speed Straps) needs to be sturdier. Maybe a heavy duty type of Velcro? The diffuser wiggles, although it stays attached, it doesn't feel solid and can be annoying. Otherwise, I'm sure it can be fixed. I still recommend it based on the images we get.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from softer shadow's, yes, but... I'm a photographer mainly working in the high Arctic. Well, i bought this item some weeks ago. It produces softer shadows like promised and it is very easy to handle. I like the possibility to flip the flash 90 in a part of a second when switching from shooting landscape to portrait. BUT: As i work in cold conditions - this item is not usable here. Even in ONLY -6C i breaks like glass, not talking about my last shooting here in the kindergarden when we had outside -18C and strong wind. I ended up in covering the entire Quick Bounce in Duck Tape what helps a little. The only one solution of using it in the cold is to put it on your flash and not to take it off the flash until you get inside again - otherwise it will fall apart!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as described Works well outdoors as a fill flash.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well I take lots of indoor pictures of large groups. This product spreads out and softens the light. I use it on a large oly flash (50R). I didn't apply the Velcro tabs to the flash and instead used large rubber bands around the flash and a piece of Velcro on top of that. It works ok. I would prefer a design without the Velcro on the flash, the reason I gave only 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Wedding Tool ! I have several Lumiquest products like mini & regular sized soft boxes, 80/20 etc. but this Quik Bounce works awesome & FAST @ Weddings & Parties for great soft fill light, with or without having a low ceiling along with out doors. Very quick to attach and use vertical or horizontal. IMO This is a MUST HAVE flash tool for any Wedding or Event Photographer !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets the job done I'm a pro photographer and do a fair amount of event photography. More often than not, bouncing my flash off the ceiling is not an option, so I looked into the Quik Bounce for these situations. The Quik Bounce gets the job done. The quality of the resulting photos is better than straight flash, in most cases. It's not as soft a bounce light as I would like, but I'd rather have it in my bag than not. I got consistent softer light that was effective. It does the job, as long as you don't expect it to be similar to ceiling bounce. What I like: the size & light weight, how it folds flat, the supplied velcro straps and how secure it attached, and the optional doors that allow some light to bounce to the ceiling if you want. What I didn't like: as I mentioned, I would like to have seen softer light coming from it, but given it's size, it did a good job. I'd recommend it as an optional item in your bag if you shoot events and have to move around. It was a worthwhile investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for events in open spaces I was covering a four day event at the Javits center in NY where the space was huge and there were no walls or ceilings to bounce off of (until you got to the small conference rooms, but then you can use any modifier you want -for this review, I'll focus on places with no bounce surfaces.) Since I was taking photos of people in a confined space (the sheer volume of people would make it feel like a sardine can) with no ceilings, the choice was clearly going to be between the Quik Bounce and the Demb flip-it. I picked up the Quik Bounce given the pace of the event - I knew I wouldn't have time to keep fiddling with the Demb and I needed to set it and forget it or risk missing shots. And you know what? It worked like a charm in that big open space. It also worked really well at after party spaces where the walls were painted black (no bounce surfaces there either.) But there was one thing bugging me after reviewing my first day's photos. The light looked way too harsh since I was forced to be really close to the subjects. To remedy this, I concocted a homemade diffuser mimicking the Demb (I used a white'ish coffee can lid and cut it to fit just in front of the flash.) That helped soften the immediate light emanating from flash to subject, giving me much better results on the following days of shooting. If you're pressed for time and will be shooting in a madhouse with no usable bounce surface, this is the product to get. Otherwise, just use a black piece of soft foam like Neil V. Niekirk suggests. As an improvement to the function of the Quik Bounce, I've found it infinitely useful to place some kind of diffusor in front of it to make it more like a hybrid between it and a Demb product.
