Allowing you to fold your stand down to stash it in your bag for easy transport, the goSTAND Portable Microphone Stand from AirTurn gives you up to 58" of height when fully extended, but folds down to less than 18" for transport and storage. Its extendable legs have the same footprint of most mic stands to provide stability, while its steel tubing construction prevents the stand from tipping over. The goStand has a standard 5/8"-27 thread, and works with all AirTurn tablet mounting systems (available separately).

AirTurn goSTAND Reviews
Not recommended
I purchased about half a dozen of these straight from AirTurn over the years, including the boom arms, and was originally fairly impressed, as they are much lighter/smaller than traditional mic stands. In retrospect, they really don't hold up well. The tolerances of the tubes is poor; they flex severely if fully extended, so I marked 2' down on each tube to prevent them from flexing, and the actual tolerances aren't great, with overall a grainy, gritty feeling on all sliding surfaces. Two have started rusting on the exposed thread surfaces after being at a single outdoor gig, another the leg clamp has come off. One of them I even had to solder the very top back on because it got loose somehow and kept turning. They also have a habit of pinching your hands when you close them (ouch!). I finally gave up, donated most of them to some friends, and bought some real stands instead. My recommendation for a good, portable stand is Manfrotto 1051BAC or NanoPole, or anything K&M (e.g. 19900B, 252). In fact, the AirTurn boom arm appears to be a clone of the K&M 21140B (but nowhere close in tolerances/build quality; I have used both). The 1051BAC is considerably longer, but very flat (stackable), goes higher, protects your gear from sudden drops with an air piston, and weighs very slightly less. The NanoPole is almost identical size to the goSTAND yet weighs considerably less, and of course is much more durable. All of these options are of course much more expensive than the goSTAND, but that's sort of where you'd need to look if you want something that lasts more than a dozen gigs tops.
Nice Portable Mic Stand - Not for Mics!
I ordered two of these small stands with the boom arm and one of the stands had a cross-threaded connector. B&H immediately replaced it because they're the best in the business! The stand is just too weak to be used as a full size mic stand if that stand is to be moved around. The concept is excellent, but the build quality needs to be improved to get five stars from me. In my work, I use Shure GLXD4R wireless mic systems with a frequency manager with the external half-wave antennas. These small stands are perfect for the purpose of holding the antennas. Small enough to sit on a table top or tall enough to be opened and stand on the floor.
sturdy stand
It may not look that sturdy but it is. It folds up to a very small, easy to carry with you, stand. If you want to attach anything to the stand, like a tray, the tubes are small and will not accept standard add on's
This is really a $15 stand!
Yeah, its compact. Thats it. Does that make it worth the price tag? Nope. Its cheap. So cheap that all I have on it is a mic and it leans to the side. My issue is this... I bought a mic stand recently for $29 that is a beast. It has large diameter tubing. The problem is I didnt realize it wouldnt fit in my luggage. So I had to get a more compact one. But the question is WHY did they not use large diameter tubing with shorter sections for this stand to make it sturdy? The compact nature of the stand is in the design not the size of the tubing. The quality of this stand it like those cheap $15 tripods you can pickup at Walmart when you want to go on vacation and look like a tourist. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of companies making more collapsible stands although i dont know why since creative people who need them travel a LOT.
Perfect for travel!
Exactly what I was looking for. Fits in my carry-on case. I can now take my voice over studio on the road. Thanks so much!
This product broke on first use
One of the tightening screws on stand went out in less than a year's time, replaced it and a screw on replacement stripped when using for very first time! DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT.
Versatile
These are great, I have two for podcasting and they work both on the ground and presumably could work on a desk. Great versatility for different setups.
Good but not durable
This stand starts off well but when used a few times a week, things start to break. First to go are the thumbscrews. In a rush its easy to over tighten and when you do, they are just done. Even the legs screw twisted out. Its quite flimsy overall when extended. I'd advise spending more and getting Gator Frame Works.
