This B&H Kit combines the Qnap TS-231 NAS Server with two 2TB internal hard drives for a total capacity of 4TB.
The Qnap TS-231 NAS Server is a high performance and high capacity NAS server for SOHO, home, workgroup, and SMB users that is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, and UNIX. The TS-231 runs the QTS 4.1 operating system and is able to function as a NAS for data backup, file synchronization, remote access, and home entertainment. It is also well suited for the creation and use of a personal cloud so you to access your data from virtually anywhere. Using services such as DLNA, AirPlay, and more, it is possible to stream your multimedia library. The TS-231 is also able to perform on-the-fly and offline video transcoding, including Full HD 1920x1080 content.
The TS-231 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Freescale ARM Cortex-A9 Dual-Core processor, which will allow you to run multiple functions simultaneously. The built-in 512MB of DRAM and 512MB of flash memory will allow quick access to frequently-used files and programs, and network connectivity is achieved via the 2x Gigabit Ethernet ports. It also has 3 x USB 3.0 ports and 1 x eSATA port.
The TS-231 features two drive bays that can accommodate the included 2 x 2TB 3.5" drives and also includes the appropriate mounting screws to help simplify installation. Read and write speed of the TS-231 can reach up to 110 MB/s and 80 MB/s respectively, and data transfer speeds with AES 256-bit encryption can reach over 30 MB/s. The TS-231 also supports JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1.
The TS-231 operates on 100-240 VAC and includes an Ethernet cable, 12x 2.5" HDD flat head screws, 16x 3.5" HDD flat head screws, an AC Adapter, and a power cord.
