One ink ribbon did not work

Bought this for my business and was at an event and needed to change the ink ribbon and paper. I changed the paper and everything seemed okay but when I changed the ink ribbon it kept saying error. I was very frustrated as I was at at event and people were waiting. However, I just decided to open another ink ribbon as it came with 2. The second one ended up working. I'm just frustrated as one ink ribbon isn't working and I cannot use it. Contacted customer service and they said they can't do anything about it if it's passed 30 days. I bought it as a backup for my business so didn't need to use it until way later, not sure how I would've been able to avoid the problem....definitely a manufacturer defect and there's nothing I could do about it. Total waste of money.

Dye sub printers prints and media don't come under the standard of fine art archival. But they will last for several years 10-100 depending how they are stored.

What is the safe storage temperature for the paper and ribbon? Will it be damaged if left out in a van on an ongoing basis?

For DNP DS6204x6 4 x 6" Roll Media for DS620A Printer (2-Pack) media, performance is maintained after long-term storage of 18 months in a darkroom at a temperature under 25 Centigrade, humidity under 65% RH. If the van is kept in a high temperature environment (for example, 40 Centigrade for more than 1 week), it may be damaged.

Can I install 4x6, 5x7, and 6x8 ribbons and paper in the DS80, and print with them, instead of buying a DS40?

No. The DS80, would only be able to print on 8x10 and 8x12 roll paper. But the DNP S80DX, would be able to print from a 4x8 - 8X12. I have attached that printer below.

I saw that the DS40 can print 2 4x6 prints from a single sheet of 6x8 paper. If you print an 8x10 on 8x12 paper on a DS80, will the DS80 cut the paper at 8x10 (wasting 2x8 of paper film), or will it print the whole 8x12 and require the owner to cut the 2x8 off manually?

when printing a 8x10 on 8x12 paper, it will cut the paper to the 8x10 size. but it still wastes the ink. you could print a 6x8 on 8x12 paper even, but your still wasting the ink.

Do these rolls have end caps on both ends of the photo paper roll? Over time the paper (in a new box) curls and you can't place it on the guide roll anymore. I want to be sure that new rolls have end caps on both sides!

Typically paper like this has a pretty good shelf life. If you left it for up to a year we would recommend using fresh stock, but it should still be good for all applications if its left unused less than 1 year.

Can you print an 8x12 on 8x10 paper pack? If not ...

Can you print an 8x12 on 8x10 paper pack? If not I don't understand why. If you can print an 8x10 on the 8x12 pack what's the difference? The total amount of paper seems to be the same and they are both 8in wide...

The 8x10 print pack's ribbon is only set up for 8x10 as it's CMY+ ink sections are only 8x10 in size. The 8x12 ribbon ink sections are 8x12 allowing you to only use an 8x10 section of it when printing 8x10.
