The Varos H-Mount Plate and Strap from Phottix is a handy, space-saving way to stand or swivel mount your shoe-mount camera flash. An adjustable padded strap holds the flash flat to a non-skid rubberized platform attached to a 3/4" long, 5/8" diameter stud with reversible 1/4"-20 / 3/8"-16 thread. The stud fits perfectly inside an umbrella-type stand mount and other accessories such as super clamps with a 5/8" receivers. The male threads offer additional mounting options. Among the benefits of this type of mounting are better center of gravity for the flash, zero likelihood of snapping the flash shoe and easier centering of the flash inside a softbox or umbrella.

great item
strong hold, flash does not move or feel loose.
Needs some work
I bought this to use with Godox AD200 flashes as, given the unique design of the AD200, I thought these would work better than other mounts. These could be a good mounting solution for the AD200, as well as other regular flash guns, but they need some improvements. First, the rubber pad on the plate should be a non-slip/skid pad. Something that has some tackiness to it to hold the flash firm. Currently, the pad is too smooth and allows the flash to turn even when tightly strapped in. The strap itself is another issue as even on a chunky flash such as the AD200 I have to pull the strap where it's nearly overlapping itself to secure the flash in place. The stretchiness of the strap is the issue here and replacing it with a sort of tie strap would allow it to fit nearly any flash while providing a more secure hold on the flash. This has potential to be the mount to use for flashes like the AD200 but currently with it's many issues I wouldn't recommend using this mount.
Great, safe mount for flash.
Great bracket for holding the flash without relying on hot shoe. Elastic Velcro strap holds flash flat against rubber pad, leaves shoe on flash open to attach trigger. Feels so much more secure and safe than relying on shoe.
Excellent for any size flash
Much better than putting all the tension at the flash's foot, especially if you are a Sony shooter and have to deal with a fragile plastic foot!
Awesome
Super clever, way better than the plastic foot connected to a clamp, I love this.
Simple, Solid
I'm using this to mount a large speedlight inside my Photek Softlighter II. Unlike a cold shoe on a light stand, using this plate allows the flash head to be brought closer to the center of the umbrella, and it also moves the head farther away from it, resulting in more even light. The plate is rubberized to help protect the speedlight from scratches, and to grip it more securely. The strap with velcro ends is elasticized and slightly stretchy, and should work with a speedlight of any shape, size and weight.
Great
best Idea I have seen to get weight off of shoe mount
Needs improvement, but awesome product
Just put a thin cork plate on top and you won’t have any issues more. It will hold flash firmly. Cork is soft and strong. Gitzo use it on their tripod mounting plates.
