Soundcraft Signature 12 Overview

The Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK is a 12-input analog mixer with on-board effects, and multitrack USB recording and playback. The Signature 12 MTK features faders with GB Series audio routing, flexible pre/post switching on each Aux, subgroups with powerful routing and switching options, and dedicated outputs. Housed in a robust metal construction and equipped with an internal universal power supply, this mixer is recommended for use by musicians and bands, in music venues and theaters, for tour sound, houses of worship, and more.

The built-in Ghost microphone preamps deliver high-quality audio with a wide dynamic range, clarity, and a high level of headroom. Additionally, the mixer uses Sapphyre Asymetric EQ for equalizing every vocal and instrumental element in a mix, and GB Series audio routing technology. The mixer provides a wide variety of built-in Lexicon studio-grade effects including reverb, chorus, and modulation, as well as dbx limiters on the input channels. To enable studio plug-ins to be integrated with live performances, the mixer incorporates a multi-track USB audio interface which allows any VST/AU/AAX/TDM/RTAS plug-in to be inserted on any input channel. XLR and switchable Hi-Z inputs enable guitars, basses, and other instruments to be connected directly.

The Signature 12 MTK comes with a 14-in / 12-out USB interface and free downloads of the Lexicon MPX-L native plug-in and Ableton Live 9 Lite.

Soundcraft Signature 12 Reviews

extreme channel bleed after 2 years of studio use

I purchased this mixer for the multitrack USB recording option. It worked fine until recently -- suddenly there's massive 100% channel bleed between channels 5 & 6. This is disappointing since I was using all channels for recording purposes. Now I've effectively lost a channel.

Could not be more pleased. Works exactly as advertised, solid build quality and great sound. I use my Signature 12 MTK for live multi-track recording instruments, vocals, plus headphone monitoring for a 4 member classic rock band. I'm getting low round-trip latency from the converters and driver using Sonar Platinum running on a Core i5 PC. Best sound, features and flexibility bang for the buck!

Using as a multi-track home recording situation. I record multiple instruments(guitar, keyboards, synths, electric drums)live into garageband and everything sounds great. Only odd thing about it is that there's no power switch, but this is not an issue once you hook it up to an outlet with a switch.

question

I understand that the MTK 12 and 22 record all channels via USB simultaneously, is this correct? So, then...is it 2.0 or 30. USB?
Asked by: Anonymous
USB 2.0 max data rate is 480Mb/s.The typical data rate that can be achieved is around 300Mb/s.Each audio signal with 24bit sampling at 44.1KHz is about 1Mb/s.14 in 12 out would be about 26Mb/s of data. This is less than 10% of the useable capacity of USB2.0.If you use 24b samples at 192Kb/s, you may start running into some latency issues if you have 14 channels in and 12 out, but why would you use 192Kb/s sampling for a live situation?
