The strip shape are thinner than standard softboxes and creates a narrow light that is well-suited to accent and rim lighting. The softbox also offers a removable interior baffle and front diffuser panel for creating extremely soft lighting. This X Plus model offers a more form fitting design for the light, ensuring less light escapes from the rear of the modifier. Also, it can accept optional grids and can mount to a variety of different light types with many types of speed rings which are available separately.

Uses more plastic than the older models

This works as advertised, but I can't help noticing that both the white liner and the corner reinforcements are now plastic, when they used to be fabric or leather. On the other hand, the storage sleeve is vastly more substantial than the old ripstop nylon sleeves. Personally, I'd prefer a junky sleeve and a nicer bank. But, I'm happy to still have this U.S. based brand that has always provided great tools and service to photographers.

Most speed rings have a threaded 3/8" hole on them which allows the use of a Chimera Single Axis Stand Adapter B&H # CHSASA to offset the weight of this softbox on a smaller lamp head. https://bhpho.to/2tFYZCu
